The team has not quit. I love that about them. This has to be super frustrating.

Some of what is happening reminds me a little of the 2005-06 season. This was coach Q’s first season and the team reached a point where the goalies could not seem to stop anything. The starter was David Aebischer and the backup was Peter Budaj. They brought up a young Russian named Vitaly Kolesnik and he played 8 games sometimes looking good and sometimes not. They later made a trade that sent Aeibscher to Montreal and Jose Theodore came here. Aeibscher only played 7 games for Montreal and Theodore only played 5 games for the Avs that season he may have been injured.

He was injured. He was on the IR when the Avs acquired him.

IIRC, Kolesnik was from Kazakhstan. I seem to remember making a Borat connection around the same time. Ha ha!

Frustration is mounting for this team as they had found it easy to win in October and November. I like the fire I’m seeing from the boys, but they need to get the ship upright again. Still plenty of games to be played this season. Any more cliches I can use? LOL
Both games should have been wins, but our goalies seem to not be able to stop a beachball right now. Sigh.

You know what the Avs had in October and Nov. that they haven’t had since? Good goaltending. Time for Francouz to take center stage for sure. Also time for a big trade that ships out Varly and Grub, cuz neither of those guys are going to win us a Cup. Am I wrong?

I guess this is the statistical payback for the 2014 season. It is ironic that the “advanced stat” charts show the Avalanche as being rich in areas that were lamented for so many years. Perhaps, this can be the antithesis of that 2014 season, where they again squeak into the playoffs and again see a statistical correction. Because regardless of outcome here, an ability to dominate possession against two of the best and hottest teams in hockey in thier own barns is notable. Oh, and let’s never trade a second round pick for a goaltender again.

You’re right, lets continue to make LOL 5th round picks for goalies and hope one of them pans out instead!

Coincidence that the losing streak has occurred when Big Z is out?
