Very proud to announce that I am in the top 0.01% of John Denver listeners on Spotify. Also, this I listened to this pod for 26,000+ minutes. If anyone knows where I could find a life, please let me know. I’m desperate.

If I could be a tree I would be a weeping willow so that little boys could rip off some of my branches and use them as whips on each other which used to make me so happy when I was growing up in Wisconsin. My brother and I would go to the tree across the stream and we would peel 2 branches off and we discovered quickly that those branches are VERY flexible. We would crack them on each other and come running home with welts all over our butts. I miss those days. Next time I’ll tell you about driving through corn fields in a golf cart so we could get whiplash from the stalks hitting us in the face. lol
Have a good one dudes…

Reposting from yesterday’s:

My boys!

Past subscriber that re-subscribed after lurking in the shadows all season.

Came back because I’ve been arguing with some buddies about Drew Lock. If you look at your general feeling on how he played in each of his starts it plays out like this for me:
2019:
vs. LAC Good
vs. HOU Great
vs. KC Horrible
vs. Det Solid
vs. OAK Solid
2020:
vs. TEN Average
vs. PIT Hurt
vs. NE Good game (stats look awful but if you watched it was a good game)
vs. KC Awful
vs. LAC Good
vs. ATL Bad
vs. LV F****** awful
vs. MIA Good

I also have to say that we have to stop looking for the next Patrick Mahomes. It is so frustrating to hear y’all talk about how Drew isn’t ‘the guy’ but you all are putting him to a crazy standard. If we think that he is going to be at least an above average starter moving forward we need to keep him! Elway has proved he can build winner around a decent QB. I think the floor for Drew is an average starter and his ceiling is still decently high with some continuity. Can we all please stop with this narrative that he is supposed to be as good as Mahomes and accept the fact that there are a lot more Baker Mayfields and Drew Locks than there are Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

Sorry for the long comment but been brewin on this for a while.

P.S. RK, lets do a pizza bet on who finishes higher this season between my Mavs and the nugs

Three things…
1. No one expects him to be Mahomes, he’s not even brought up
2. He was horrible for 3 quarters against the LAC, great when they had no pass rush and prevent defense in the fourth, the best grade he could get there would be average
3. His floor is career backup, his ceiling in above average starter. His most likely result, is journeyman starter.

I’m a couple days behind on the pod so I don’t know if anyone has asked this yet but wouldn’t the league “punishing” a playoff bound team by having them play a game without multiple starters be more impactful than doing that to a team like the Broncos? Seems like teams that are going to make the playoffs have less reason to follow the protocols. Also, I loved watching the game on Sunday! We got to witness history and I’m here for the chaos with the way the season has gone. At least it was less embarrassing than the Raiders loss on the same day.

Fellas,

It seems to me that if Von Miller does play again this year that he will need to practice on Wednesday. I’m sure the Broncos will want to give him close to 3 weeks to get his conditioning back. It wouldn’t make much sense to bring him back for 1 game, unless it will be a farewell type of thing. Although with no fans that would be weird. 2-3 games would be worth it, and maybe they can upset KC this week and have the playoffs in reach if he comes back. How say you?

How many grounded, team-first billionaires do you know of? I’m Team Brittany. Team carry on the Pat Bowlen legacy. Would rather not take my chances on the billionaire cesspool—unless we’re talking someone like Melinda Gates or a Peyton Manning led group. Maybe Kylie Jenner is interested in owning an NFL franchise… That last part was a joke 🙂

PS – Is Honey Boo Boo a billionaire yet?

Bum talk Friday –

Just a little lesson in word origin today, my boyz

bum (noun)
“buttocks,” late 14c., “probably onomatopœic, to be compared with other words of similar sound and with the general sense of ‘protuberance, swelling.

One more tidbit about fridays –

Not content to allow the fashion trend to be restricted to surfers, tourists, and government officials, the Hawaii Fashion Guild launched “Aloha Friday” in 1966 to promote wearing Aloha shirts in lieu of formal attire at all places of business. By 1970, thanks in part to its adoption by the president of Bank of Hawaii, Aloha shirts became acceptable as official business wear in Hawaii on any day of the week.

This time last year I was lucky enough to go to Drew Lock’s first NFL start. As a California Broncos fan it is not often that I get to make the trip out to Denver for a game. There tailgating with my girlfriend’s family I got to meet a well known Broncos fan that I had seen on broadcasts before known as “Mo Man”. He could be seen wearing crazy orange hair and an orange Broncos jersey #69 with “Mo Man” on the back. Found out from my girlfriend earlier this year that Mo Man had passed. Mile High Salute for Mo Man! I hope Drew and the Broncos can give the Chiefs hell this week.

Greetings Gents,
After listening to the podcast I began to ponder what the connection between the broncos and the city of Denver is. Does the City of Denver and the surrounding community have any responsibilities to the franchise (ie taxes, county revenues, ect) and does the ownership have responsibilities that they need to fulfil to the city? Hopefully you guys can answer this one for me! Happy Bum Talk Friday yall. Go broncos, Go DNVR and Lets Go Nuggets!

As we sit here enduring another losing season, I ponder why? So many things, but I won’t try to discuss them all, as it’s easy to have a massive long post if you do. So let’s focus on our GM. Many have been calling for his head for years. Can’t draft a QB and many draft failures. I can’t argue that the poor drafts when we were good have came back to haunt us. But Elway has improved in drafting. I’ll give him that. My concern is Free Agency. We keep losing players who know winning and signing players from teams that have had losing records for the years that the player was there. There were some comments about the culture early in the year by Shelby. Concerning.

In most cases, players from winning organisations require you to pay more to get them, those from losing, unless exceptional, you can get cheaper. Glasgow (DET), James (MIA) and Driskell (CIN) are examples. In the past 3 years the only players I see to have panned out, where B. Callahan and K. Jackson. And we lost so many great players. What is Elway going to have to change to make this work? I know you aren’t able to be as close to the players this year, but do you think that their are some that accept this record and the culture is off?

My Boys! Happy Friday. Instead of looking at the blueprint to win I would rather look at what we want to see from Drew this week. Realistically I don’t think we are winning this game, but I still think Drew can have a good game that gives us hope going forward. I would like to see Drew get 250 yards, and 2 touchdowns and ideally no interceptions anything less than that in what will be a game where Lock will need to throw it a lot (especially with melvin our feature back who will account for this games turnovers). Will we see Will Parks out there today or will he be ineligible until next week? Can’t wait till we see him out there again with Simmons. I really hope we can sign parks to a multi year deal.
Here is an over/under for the week. Broncos run the ball on 2nd and 10 6.5 times. I’m taking the over on this one unfortunately. What do you guys think? thanks for your coverage and can’t wait till Sunday Night.

Hey there, DNVR! I don’t have anything Bronco related to add, but it IS DNVR fam related, which, in my opinion, is currently more fun to be a part of than it is to be a Broncos fan.

Anyway, it’s that time of year where Spotify releases their review of the year and what each listener played the most: top artist, song, albums, etc. I know that no one should care about Nick Cox’s yearly Spotify review, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that my SECOND most played song of the year was “Melded” by Phantom Spring, a DNVR subscriber. If you haven’t checked out their music, go do it today! I remember when you guys first played their song, “Reimagined” as the closing song on the podcast and I fell in love right away. I can’t remember which subscriber it was, but I hope he is listening and enjoys the shout-out. Mr. Phantom Spring, whenever you go on tour, if you come through Indianapolis, I’ll be at your show; you can count on that.

Thanks guys, and I’m sorry for rambling, but I HAD to give my guy a shoutout as these two songs are staples in my daily workout routine. Love you, DNVR! Have a good weekend!

Man I hate the chiefs. Hate em. Each one. And their dumb faces. But I’ve gotta harness that hatred and use it for good. Visualize, and attack. Visualize. Attack!
So as I am setting up for my 58 yard field goal this week I am imagining that the ball is Travis Kelce and I am kicking him into the sun when I say my kick this week is simply some how some way the Broncos will win this game.
What say you?
Thank you guys and have a killer weekend!

Hey Guys !
……. With 5 games left into the season this is the first time in 4 years where I’m puzzled and have to ask myself …..”WHO ARE THE DENVER BRONCOS ” ….What’s our identity ? Do we have leadership of the future if we let Justin simmons walk ? Can we get Von to restructure his contract and retire a bronco? Is jurell casey and bouye on this team next year ? Is bryce Callahan ? Is kareem jackson ,or Shelby …. Are we a defensive team do we run it back ? ….. Are we a team with a bunch of weapons we don’t know how to shoot ??? And #1 priority wth donee have with drew Lock …… I look up and down this roster healthy next year and of everybody is back only Drew is holding this team back …bad organization decisions and poor coaching …… I’m concerned FANGIO is a great defensive mind but as a head coach doesn’t know how to take control of the team to win THERES SO MUCH TALENT ON THIS TEAM !!!!! ….. No ownership , no offensive identity , an aging defense , and a ? STILL AT QUARTERBACK ….. So I don’t know what this team is do you ?

MY BOYS!!! I really hope pat shurmur has the same kind of game plan that he used against the dolphins this week. Please don’t abandon the run when were down by 4 points. He didn’t do anything to help out Kendall Hinton on Sunday. Theres a reason that only 1 pass was completed on Sunday, that was the only pass that wasn’t way too far down field. Send Noah Fant on a shallow crossing rout amd let him run open after the catch and when its 3rd and 4 don’t run routs that are only 3 yards down. Ive noticed the short routs seem to always be too short on 3rd down. Please Pat help out your QB Kyle Shurmur…..I mean Drew Lock.

I think the Kyle Shurmur signing makes sense. To avoid the potential of not having a QB for two weeks in a row we had to sign Kyle when we so that he could be available after the league’s quarantining rules for a new player. This was all for the off chance that every one of our QBs tested positive on Tuesday. Obviously that didn’t happen, so I assume Shurmur won’t be here long?
What makes less sense are the receiving targets, specifically the TEs, in Chicago in our DNVR Madden league. I don’t know who is managing this team, but they have Zach Ertz AND Hunter Henry, to go along with a promising rookie that clearly could use some playing time to develop in Brevin Jordan. Henry and Jordan only have 2 receptions a piece after 4 games! Wasted talent? This team prefers throwing to the wideouts anyway. But there is wasted talent there as well! Thielen, Devonta Smith, and Sterling Shepard are all involved. But then, you have Curtis Samuel wasting away on the bench with only 4 receptions. This team drafted Devonta Smith and Brevin Jordan in the 1st and 3rd rounds. Like they needed more receivers??? There is going to be drama here and these players will be demanding trades in no time.
Mase, I’ve been meaning to call you out on your 58 yard field goal in the Miami game. Wasn’t it that TUA would throw his first interception to Simmons? His was called back while the Fitzpatrick interception stood.
Sorry for giving you boys a hard time. It’s all out of love.

Long time subscriber, devoted listener, and CO born the same year as our beloved Bronco’s….today I’m compelled to comment for the 1st time. We need to get a grip on the negativity family…..this is becoming a platform of whiners and passive aggressive rants. Go listen to the latest Cover 2 Broncos podcast, they interviewed Brian Vaughn, he had insightful explanations and his perspective made so much sense….we all need to OPEN OUR EYES!

Much Love, Bronco Filly
