I just saw Drew Lock’s response to criticism by Coach Fangio. That’s my quarterback! He leads the league in saying the right things. Toss in a few touchdowns now and then and he’s a keeper.

Heaps of praise for you guys,

So with all these talk about Drew having to show numbers in touchdown/completions/ no picks to be the starter next year or get a contract extension, why do the broncos not reward Phillip with a contract extension? Does he not have back to back 1000 yard seasons, does he not give 100% every play? I feel the double standard on players not just these two is why the broncos seemed to be failing in keeping up with the rest of the league

Gentlemen,

It is time for Drew to stop talking the talk and start walking the walk.

I’m telling John and Vic, that with the masterful game plans I am implementing in the next five weeks, Drew needs to throw at least two touchdowns a game with no picks.

If he fails to do this, I am inserting Slyle Kyle in at QB for 2021.

We are going to release Phil and give Melvin a big bonus.

Behind Kyle and Melvin running the offense, we CAN’T lose!

I’ll just keep Shurmuring along until I die.

I am Shat, “this is the way”.

Hey gents,

I’m sure this will have been mentioned already, but I just want to express my happiness that we have Will Parks back. May only end up being a short term thing, but I loved watching him back there for us these last few years, one of my favourite players for sure!

Greetings gang!

First off, I’m so glad that we brought Will Parks back. He was missed on that defense, and I hope that we keep him on a long term. I wonder what number he will take since Essang Bassey has the number he was wearing when he was with the Broncos.

My next question is about the Beth Bowlen Wallace statement. It seems to through my reading that she is advocating for the sale of the team, which I hope the Trust takes to heart. If the Broncos are to be sold, what type of ownership would be best for the Broncos? An ownership group such as the one Peyton was involved in with people who KNOW football, or a business tycoon who is flush with cash, or option 3 I haven’t thought of?

Stay safe and stay healthy!

Happy Thursday! On yesterday’s pod onion booty brought up the rock bottom moments of the 21st century. It was sad to hear all of the disappointing games/time periods be brought up so easily and almost endlessly. It made me think back to December of the 2008 season. Denver lead the division at 8-4 over 2nd place San Diego at 4-8. Well Denver lost 3 straight, San Diego won 3 straight setting up a winner take all Sunday night game in San Diego. We got smoked and just like that the Mike shanahan era was over. Sad times indeed. Anyway just my thoughts, hopefully there aren’t many more to add to the list. Go Broncos and go DNVR.

Fellas,

Let me start by saying that this is a long comment so the TL/DR is at the bottom. I wanted to see if there is a correlation between success and where you pick your starting QB. I averaged out draft position for all starting QB’s based on team position within their division. I did not account for injuries so I’m including guys like Prescott and Garoppolo. And I kinda guessed on a couple like Washington and Chicago as it seems like they really don’t know themselves. I’m a bit surprised by the results.

1st place teams: 22nd overall
2nd: 43rd overall
3rd: 11th overall
4th: 52nd overall

The first place teams highest picked QB is Daniel Jones at 6, with Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Ryan Tannehill as the only ones picked in the top 10 leading their divisions.

2nd place teams are being weighed down by Kirk Cousins and Tom Brady as they have 3 players picked #1 overall (Mayfield, Alex Smith, And Goff).

3rd place teams have 5 guys picked in the top 3 ( Newton, Trubisky, Wentz, Ryan, and Murray). You can make the case that Kyler Murray is the outlier of those since the NFC west is so tough and he’s only in his second year.

4th place teams have young guys like Burrow and Herbert. But also guys who were drafted lower like Prescott and Minshew. This is the spot where I feel there are the least surprises.

My findings from this are so, picking high doesn’t mean success. And picking too low is like playing the lottery.

TL/DR: When picking your starting QB drafting high is nice, but only if he fits your scheme. How say you?

Mase – I love ya …. but yesterday you had me swearing on my way home from work.

I get Lock has been far from perfect but when comparing his drop off from games 1-6 to 7-13 there were a whole range of factors you never mentioned …. the quarterbacks on your ‘trending down list’ – did they have a new OC? Did there OC SUCK at game planning? Did they have no off-season? Did they lose WR1 for the season? Did they have Two new rookies receivers, again with no off-season?

Please cut Drew some slack this year, this season has been like NO OTHER EVER …

Agreed my dude. We’re comparing Drew to Josh Allen specifically who has had a stable, average coaching staff with a few bright minds tossed in when we don’t have the coaching staff to begin with, and of course because he’s a second round pick he isn’t worth finding the right staff over…
Give me a break. Once the players are drafted, in my eyes they are football players, not picks. Drew Lock is a very talented QB in the NFL, not a second round pick and anyone who disagrees with that had better have a really good argument.

All that doesn’t explain a drop that is larger than any other QB in the last decade — 27.0 rating points. Some of those other QBs dealt with changes and injuries, too. If he had dropped by, say, 10 rating points or a couple of percentage points in completion percentage, I could see it. But by 27.0 rating points and 10.5 percentage points in completion percentage? That is an extreme descent that cannot simply be chalked up to circumstances.

My boys! Okay so let me get this straight…Lock and the rest of the QB room get fined by the team for this petty mistake…but yet neither Kareem Jackson or Melvin Gordon were fined by the team for getting DUI’s!? Please help me understand the backwards rational here…smh…this is just flat out PATHETIC imo.

Anyways…my question today is…when a player is traded to another team…what parts(i.e. base salary, signing bonus, roster bonus, workout bonus etc.) of that players salary goes against their new teams cap? What team is responsible for what?

The nuisance of knowing if he is the guy…. I have patiently supported Drew, not just as a Broncos fan, but a bit of a fan of Mizzou. (CSU gets top spot).

Now when Scangz ran the show and Drew started we went 4-1. 7 TD/3 INT ratio was acceptable for a Rookie. Completion percentage was 64.1, not special, but above the Mendoza line.

Scangz gets fired, Patrick Shurmur arrives, it goes south. 3-4 when playing full game, 7 TD’s to 11 INT’s. Completion percentage drops to 55.6. That’s *beep*. This is what you call regression and sadly not from spectacular numbers.

So, do you blame Shurmur, do you blame Drew, or is it a combination of the fact that teams found his weaknesses, Shurmur’s offence put more pressure on him or that he was only successful with a safe and conservative offense? Did whoever decided to fire Scangz really screw up? Thoughts on those points?

Auszee

P.S. Go easy on Mase, he provides stats and analysis, which come from his mind. Your heart may bleed orange, but facts are facts. He, Zac and RK provide you great insight, even if it’s painful. Great job guys!!!

So Spotify tells me I’ve listened to the DNVR Broncos Podcast for 21,142 minutes this year (267 episodes), out of the 21,622 minutes of podcasts I’ve listened to, so obviously, there isn’t a clear favorite here… lol
That number translates out to roughly 352 1/2 hours of listening. Now, of course you guys do pods 5 times a week which comes out to 260 days in the year where you do pods. Now, if we take an average on that, I listen to you guys run your mouths about Denver this, PB&J this, Count Lockula that for about 1.35 hours every fucking weekday.
I think I have a problem. You guys are STILL awesome, and if there was EVER a doubt in your mind that you are anyone’s favorite, just read this comment again. Happy Thursday my dudes and go get yourself a Kendall Hinton Jersey!
Also, the fact that I listened to 267 episodes when there were only 260 days to do this in just goes to show that you guys are definitely not slackers and you go above and beyond. Also Emergency episodes exist.
Have a good day,
Lynx

MY BOYS! I want the Broncos to play pissed off and to give the Chiefs a full game and effort on Sunday. If Denver loses, but don’t shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers, surrender defensive and/or special teams touchdowns, and make the Chiefs beat them solely by having a better quarterback and offense, then I can live with that. What constitutes as success for the Broncos on Sunday for each of you, even if the Broncos do not ultimately win the game? Have a terrific Thursday. DNVRMY SALUTE!

“Too early to talk about Hall of Fame for these guys” Mase says. I do recall this being the podcast where both hall of fame and Jerry Jeudy were brought up in the same sentence before Jeudy ever took a snap in the NFL. I’m being quite tongue-in-cheek. It is too early for a lot of these guys, but it’s fun to have that excited hopefulness though.

What do you guys see Will Parks role being? Will he usurp Bassey or be used in some of the same places Callahan would?

My boys!

Past subscriber that re-subscribed after lurking in the shadows all season.

Came back because I’ve been arguing with some buddies about Drew Lock. If you look at your general feeling on how he played in each of his starts it plays out like this for me:
2019:
vs. LAC Good
vs. HOU Great
vs. KC Horrible
vs. Det Solid
vs. OAK Solid
2020:
vs. TEN Average
vs. PIT Hurt
vs. NE Good game (stats look awful but if you watched it was a good game)
vs. KC Awful
vs. LAC Good
vs. ATL Bad
vs. LV F****** awful
vs. MIA Good

I also have to say that we have to stop looking for the next Patrick Mahomes. It is so frustrating to hear y’all talk about how Drew isn’t ‘the guy’ but you all are putting him to a crazy standard. If we think that he is going to be at least an above average starter moving forward we need to keep him! Elway has proved he can build winner around a decent QB. I think the floor for Drew is an average starter and his ceiling is still decently high with some continuity. Can we all please stop with this narrative that he is supposed to be as good as Mahomes and accept the fact that there are a lot more Baker Mayfields and Drew Locks than there are Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes.

Sorry for the long comment but been brewin on this for a while.

P.S. RK, lets do a pizza bet on who finishes higher this season between my Mavs and the nugs

Wassup guys! On this beautiful Thursday I want to know what’s your guys favorite TD celebration? My favorite is probably the classic Mile High Salute from Terrel Davis. But the Seahawks and Steelers WRs had some good ones over the past few years too
