Hi guys! Two questions for you:

1. Would you be happy with the Broncos giving Washington the #15 pick, Von Miller and a third rounder for their #2 pick, and with that pick drafting Chase Young? I’d be very sad to see Von go, but this would be a hell of move.

2. Can you buy London Pride in the US? Proper beer.

Keep up the great pods. Look forward to the combine coverage.

Cheers

Hey guys. I am a new subscriber from Bristol in the UK. Have been listing to the pod for a few months and wanted to check out what is behind the pay-wall. For my first contribution, I have to make the case for you to support Everton. Being an Everton fan can be tough, we are normally pretty good but without making the breakthrough. Everton has a proud history, and is one of the most successful teams in English football history. While things have been tough, our new Italian manager, Carlo Ancelotti means the future looks bright. Sound familiar to being a Broncos fan? Every year I believe just to get hurt again. The main reason to be an Everton fan is the community. You will not meet a better group of football supporters than the Toffees. To add to the comparison, our bitter rivals, Liverpool are about to win the league. I hate them as much as you all hate the Chiefs. Keep up the great pod.

Hi,
How much pre planning do you do on what you will talk about during the show? Besides just doing more podcasts together, how do make sure not to talk over one another during the show?

Ok gents it’s time for a little would you rather …

In this scenario you get to play In the NFL for one game – would you rather …

– Return an Int for a 100 yd Td?
– Rush for 140 yds and 3 tds
– Pass for 4 Tubbies and 350 yds
– Return a Punt for a game winning Td
– Kick a 60 yd fg to win a game
Or
– Have 3 sacks, 1 ff, 4 tfls and 2 PD.

All in winning games of course

Fellas,

Do you think that Vic is leaving his coaches here to do more study on those who are either not at the combine or who are “undervalued”. The only thing that makes sense to me is that Vic and John can do the scouting on the players who are already on their board and see the top prospects. But having Shurmur and Munchak comb through those who would be undrafted (where the Broncos hit constantly, CHJ, Lindsey, Reid) and identify the best middle of the pack players. Also, how much time is wasted during the combine with resets and moving things around? Wouldn’t it be more time efficient for them to only see the throws and plays and etc like that and not waste hours waiting around? Just thinking if you really divide the focus into tiers Vic and John take tier 1-3 (starter prospects) and the rest get delegated to your other coaches to work the lesser names maybe you find more diamonds in the rough and who knows maybe pick out a few players who you get as undrafted guys all because these other coaches had more time to watch their film.

Thoughts?

I didn’t realize there were so many different styles of pizza and as a full on lover of any pizza it now makes me curious to take a pilgrimage to a bunch of different cities and see what’s up! It’ll be hard to top a Colorado Mountain Pie or Deep Dish pizza. If you like deep dish there is a place in Tulsa OK called Savastanos and it is incredible! I wanted to chime in regarding the XFL. Do you think that any current player who may be on a down trend could have anything to gain by essentially ditching the NFL and moving to the XFL provided the XFL is a success throughout its first season and if so, what would that be?

I am planning on going to the next Dallas Renegades home game and I will happily report back to talk about how the environment was because seeing things on TV like the empty beer cup snake in DC or a guy dancing with broccoli in I believe it was Seattle. If you haven’t seen these look them up they are hilarious and I think that could up being a great draw to the XFL and not the horrendous QB play.

When it comes to tap backs I am on RK’s side because I had an ex girlfriend who would write “K” whenever something was wrong and it was maddening, as half the time I did not know what was wrong or what I did wrong and I haven’t had anyone really do that to me since! It’s impossible to advance the conversation or even figure out what to say after you receive something like that. Texting without certain punctuation being used can lead to many misunderstandings between you and whoever you’re talking to.

Fellas! Quality work on the pod while I was gone. I’m still catching up on all the pods I missed while down in Antarctica, so this may take a minute. Sorry! And yes, I introduced the BBC crew to the DNVR podcast as well as a rudimentary lesson on Beevis and Butthead… They didn’t get it. What can I say? They’re Brits. I think Beevis and Butthead was a little too low-brow for them. I cultivated some new Broncos fans in the process though! Most notably, I was lucky enough to meet the great David (F’ing) Attenborough when he came down to film for a few days! We hit it off. Long story short I gave him my DNVR “DIE HARD” shirt in exchange for a behind the scenes look at the BBC if the Broncos play in London. He agreed and would love to “Catch a match” with us sometime!

RK. Were you talking about medical or internet service down there? Internet is ok-ish. On my days off I’d rather sneak away and hike the unknown than stay connected. They have medical service on “The Ice”. It’s contracted through the various government/military agencies doing work down there. That’s how you get a CO farm boy like me lifting you out of a freezing ocean, and making fun of your stupid life choices in a helicopter for half an hour or so. You asked what I was working on but I didn’t know if you meant in the medic/rescue field or the music arena. So here’s a quick highlight from my last trip to Antarctica. Sorry, but I gotta brag a little.

**DISCLAIMER** I left the states just after the badge icon appeared next to people who get “X” number of likes on their comments. This is my shameless ploy to join the ranks of such illustrious members of the badge brigade as the OG’s Count Locula and Iceman. Besides the hosts their comments tipped the scales for me joining BSN. Wait… Can I say that anymore? Oops… DNVR! Anyway, If you like the following story or yesterday’s music of “I am the problem” for Bolles, give me a like so I don’t have to go back to Antarctica and face the disapproving grins of the Brits. They bet me I wouldn’t have a badge by my next contract. So, here’s the cliff notes version of the story.

A female videographer (from the BBC crew I talked about last time) was somehow granted access to travel and work in Antarctica for 6 weeks. It was odd because she was VERY pregnant but wasn’t due for another month after her scheduled return to civilization. Well, she took a nasty fall on the rocks while taking video of the penguins which sent her into pre-term labor. We flew in and landed the chopper close to her. Hats off to the pilot, an ex-special forces guy (no names, but he’s also an avid DNVR listener and will smile when he hears this) that landed the chopper without squashing any penguins eggs! I’ve delivered quite a few babies in my day, but this one was critical. When I got to her and took a look, she had a prolapsed cord. When the cord comes out before the fetus, the pressure on the cord cuts off circulation from mom to the fetus which is an immediate life threat for the fetus. When we originally got the call I was stoked to deliver a baby on “the ice” and in front of a penguin audience (because that happens all the time right?) But we had to load and go instead. Delivering a baby like this is not handled in the field because a cesarean section is indicated. In this case you have to put your hands all the way in there, keep pressure off the cord and keep the baby on the inside. However during the flight to base Mom was VERY ready and I couldn’t stop the baby from coming. Against my original plan, I successfully delivered the baby in the helicopter flying at about 185 mph. Definitely a career achievement in my books. Definitely a happy mistake. But if it’s music you’re looking for, I’ll send you some more tunes soon. Hahahahaha!

2. While scrambling to catch up on the pod, I have come to the conclusion that a new rule has to be put in place. Something needs to happen every time Mase says “Biadasz” or “Carolina”. If Mase had to put a dime in the Biadasz/Carolina bucket every time he mentions them, you wouldn’t need a go fund me for your world tour! However, maybe he can pay it off in a different way. For example, if Mase mentions those names he has to do a Beevis impression. Or even better, quote Star Wars in a Beevis voice. Imagine what Beevis would sound like… “Hehehehehe… Luke… Hehehehe… I’m, hehehe, I’m, I’m your father…. Hehehehehe… Now get TP for my bunghole!” Just thought I’d throw it out there.

3. This one’s…. FOR PAT!

4. I have to admit I messed up on my last punctuation comment. I’ll probably get slammed for it! Anyway, that joke is for why it is important to capitalize proper nouns. Helping Uncle Jack, and helping uncle jack mean two very different things. Our punctuation lesson today is more straight forward.

If you don’t think punctuation is important, try forgetting the comma when you tell someone “I’m sorry, I love you”.

5. If the XFL comes to Denver we have to name the team the “Humpback Chubbs” right?

That’s it for now fellas. I think I have the long comments out of my system. I’ll ask more relevant questions next time.

If those Brits were between 35 and 50, they should have loved Beavis and Butthead, as all my mates watched it. We love King of the Hill too; big shout out to the listener who has changed his handle to the Propane and Propane Accessories one.

Also, thanks for making my comments look like one liners 😉

Lastly, good job on baby delivery. Top work.

Well, you got me! Long time free loader, but finally committed! I work overnights, driving and listening to your excellent coverage of everything broncos has kept me outta the ditch on several occasions. My first question is something I have pondered for awhile: going back to the final game of the 2006 season all the broncos needed was to beat a terrible SF team and they were in the playoffs, however I believe they lost in OT. Had Denver won that game and Shanahan had another playoff run, would that have bought him at least one more season as coach? Could we be in an alternate reality where Jay Cutler lead this team for a decade of good football? What’s one game In bronco history where if the outcome were flipped you could see a drastically different franchise?

A couple weeks ago it was discussed if Chris Harris Jr would be in the HOF one day. The consensus was probably not, but it wasnt because of lack of skill. It was was lack of publicity.

I started to think listening to yesterdays pod that what if Chris does end up going to KC and he wins another ring or two. I’m pretty sure that would be more than enough to get him in. It would be god awful for the broncos. Like worst case scenario. But boy talk about adding some spark to that rivalry!

My two cents on the combine and coaches not going: Vic wants HIS guys. This is a great opportunity for him to find guys he wants with no distractions from other coaches. Sure it’s a double edge sword, but you gotta at least think that Vic has thought long and hard how he would do things as a head coach when given the opportunity. This doesn’t seem like a knee jerk decision.

Last, we have identified WR as a need. What are your thoughts about bringing in one of these guys: Randall Cobb, Tavon Austin, Travis Benjamin, Ted Gin, Nelson alghor, and Brashard Perriman. Gives us a boost at slot and deep threat. If you had to choose one who?

Hypothetically if the Broncos trade for Stefon Diggs and give up their 2nd or a combination of other later picks, do you think that would assure Denver passes on a WR in the 1st? Even if one of Jeudy, Lamb, or Ruggs are there at 15? I’m assuming in this scenario there was a run on OT’s and the top tier talent is off the board.

Hey guys,

First off wanted to thank y’all for providing all of us listeners with such a large amount of content!

I was able to catch up on 10 or so episodes while flying, to and from Japan last week as well as while I was on the bullet train. I took some time to do the math and my total travel totaled to somewhere around 30 hours! I cannot thank Ryan, Zac, Mase, Andre, and Henry as well as the DNVR family for keeping me so entertained during my travels across the globe

*cue Indiana Jones style airplane & map cut scene*

Little known fact about Japan: If you head into the mountains northwest of Tokyo, close your eyes and listen real hard you can still hear the reverberations of Terrell Davis’s massive hit on Tyrone Drakeford at the 1995 pre season game at the Tokyo Dome.

Jokes aside I have one serious question that in my mind settles the debate surrounding Fangio’s choice to go to the combine alone:

Let’s say you were only given the choice of either getting to meet the players and not being able to watch their tape. Or you were not able to meet them but get full access to all of their tape, which would you pick? I for one go would go with the latter.

Much love!

My guys, you’ve wounded me to my nerdy core with mixing up Shazam and Captain Marvel, I audibly groaned in my car and had to take action.
TLDR- Captain Marvel is a Marvel character who is essentially Super Man in that universe, Shazam is a DC character who is a kid running around and can turn into a lightning powered hero by clapping and yelling ‘Shazam!’

The long explanations (feel free to skip, this is mostly my geek needing to vent), Marvel is a human who worked on secret projects and the Dr. she worked under was a species of aliens called the Kree, whom she defected to to make a light speed engine on earth to fight against the Kree. The Kree Empire finds the doctor, Mar-vel as she was known, during a test flight and shoots down the spacecraft. The engine is saved, but Mar-vel dies and Carol (who’s original name was changed to this from the comics) survives, destroys the engine drive when the Kree come to take it, and absorbs the energy. The Kree take her, train her to fight for them, and ultimately lose her when she returns to earth and regains her memory. She proceeds to fly around the galaxy fighting the Kree and returning to earth under dire circumstances.

I know a lot less about Shazam, but Shazam is a teenager who gets taken to a temple in another dimension and meets a wizard, named Shazam, who’s been searching for someone to put his soul into, but they must be pure of heart. So the kid becomes the host of this hero wizard, and all he needs to do is say Shazam and he turns into an adult super hero who fights with lightning.

That felt good, thanks for the vent sesh guys ?

I am a little behind on the podcasts this week, as I tend to listen on my commute, and Storm Dennis has caused more than a little disruption over here near the Welsh border, so I am off work. Although, compared to the natural disasters you get in the US, this is probably seen as just a bit of rain. Nevertheless, it has caused a fair bit of disruption to us unprepared Brits..

Ok, on Monday’s Pod, Zac and Mase were talking about names that were amusing in other languages. Well I have to share my own favourite, which is not another language, but indeed in English. Every time his name is mentioned on NFL Coverage, I snigger like a schoolboy, and wonder if either of these words simply doesn’t mean the same over the pond as it does here in the UK..

….and that players is….

Randy Bullock!

I always picture this adolescent bovine charging around an NFL field, humping anything that moves, and the laughter almost always gets the better of me. Doesn’t matter how many times I hear the name, I just see Special Teams Coaches struggling to contain the lustful exuberance of this horned beast, but yet they always seem to manage to direct him towards the uprights, and usually……the. kick. is. gooooooood! LMFAO

Randy just can’t mean the same in the States, or maybe you don’t call young Bulls, Bullocks, or maybe his parents are just so incredibly cruel. Someone, please enlighten me ???

Guys, I couldn’t agree more, Donovan Peoples-Jones and Calvin Throckmorton are ELITE names. I was browsing the draft class names yesterday and came across a few more names in this upcoming draft class that deserve the “Elite” tag:

1. Kindle Vildor from Georgia Southern
2. DeeJay Dallas from Miami
3. Rodrigo Blankenship from Georgia
4. Denzel Mims from Baylor
5. Tanner Muse from Clemson
6. Van Jefferson from Florida

And of course the best for last:

Joey Magnifico from Memphis. He’s gonna be Magnifico in the NFL.

Guys,

Can we pump the breaks on the Von Miller’s over the hill let’s trade him rhetoric?! Sure, he had a less than world-beating 2019 but this is VON MILLER we’re talking about! In 2018 I saw him rip a pigskin straight from a Running Back’s hands! And I’ve seen his closet. It’s bigger than my apartment complex! Von is THE primary reason we won Super Bowl 50. The man is an athletic freak, in year two of a new scheme, and he’s back on his rigorous workout grind with that Captain Insano trainer guy. He’s dish washer salmon hungry! Also, I bet there’s a part of Fangio that takes Von’s lackluster 2019 sack totals as a reflection of his own performance calling defensive plays and will make it imperative to raise Von’s sack numbers on the quarterbacks this coming season.

Gents, what are your thoughts on Broncos Country’s allegiance, or lack there of, to DJ Von Sauce The Don? And if we didn’t have Von, who would supply the locker room with fire jams?!

Hey guys, looking forward to the combine coverage next week, i think with all 3 of you in Indy it will be awsum.

Quick question, what do you think DreMont Jones celling is?, me personaly am very high on him i think he can be even better than Malik Jackson, do you think he can take the next step this year.

my favorite series all time is Seinfeld and my favorite episode is when Kramer finds the set from the Merv Griffin Show.

Zac i loved the article on the expectations and the production of the rookie class, it gives a lot of hope for the future of this team.

My favorite non DNVR podcast is REVISIONIST HISTORY by Malcom Gladwell, makes you think differently about things you thougth you knew, i think Mase would enyoy it, its a smart well reaserched and excellent produced podcast.

I really love this comunity and the way we are part of each others lives, I like the way people reach out whith problems and the community responds always is so great.

Hey guys,

I was excited to here you might be picking an EPL team to support! Ryan, it was cool to hear you talk about liking Sunderland. One of my earliest memories was when Niall Quinn (who was Ireland’s all-time leading scorer) drove me to get McDonalds because he thought I looked bored sitting in on one of my dad’s business meetings. Unfortunately, Sunderland isn’t in the Premier League but as someone who grew up in the sport I do have a team that I feel is an obvious and easy choice:

1.Everton is the biggest and best team you can chose without being a bandwagon fan.

2.50% of the club was recently sold to a mega billionaire and they hired a big-time coach in January so you’d be coming at the perfect time.

3.Zac already owns an Everton jersey with his name on it.

4.Everton has the strongest ties to American players. Tim Howard, Landon Donovan, Brian Mcbride, and Joe-Max Moore were all Blues. On my last day working for Everton, Tim actually sent me a signed shirt.

5. Because of this American connection fan clubs can be found everywhere including Denver and Fort Collins so if you like watching games at a pub with a big group of fans, Everton is ideal.
6. Everton has the best atmosphere of any team in England. They don’t get overrun by tourists like Liverpool whose stadium sits 300 yards away. The Everton fan songs are so good that other fanbases routinely steal or adopt them.

7. They play in a stadium from the 1800s that has so much history it makes Wrigley Field feel like Tropicana. It has the best views of any stadium. The second tier of the Bullens Road Stand actually extends over the lower tier all the way to the edge of the field and is so steep that you feel like you’re on top of the action watching down on it like a god (You can sit in normal seats too).

8.Their list of “celebrity” fans includes Sylvestre Stallone and former Broncos fullback Jacob Hester.

9.Nine is for Dixie Dean who scored 60 goals in 1927.

10.Most importantly, If you end up going to England for the Broncos I can probably arrange for you to get tickets and maybe even a player interview if you were interested. (Everton was the first pro soccer team to have a podcast)

I think the story about leaving the position coaches at Dove Valley is overblown.

We’ve always had position coaches there and that hasn’t stopped us from drafting the likes of Paxton Lynch, Montee Ball, Phillip Blake, Cody Latimer, Shane Ray, Carlos Henderson, Brendan Langley, etc.

The coaches may have the opportunity to informally meet guys at the Combine but if those informal conversations are better fact-finding ventures then the scouts and front office’s connections to a players friends, coaches, etc then there is a much bigger problem with the Broncos organization then the fact that we are leaving position coaches at home. The Broncos scouting department and front office should be able to get the truth about a prospect’s personality without the need for position coaches to have a 10 min conversation at the combine.

Just my two cents, thanks for all the good work!

Here’s the Pro Bowl take I’ve held for a long time:

Let the best football players in the world compete in other sports on national TV! The highest vote getters could be team captains and pick their teams for a 5-on-5 or 3-on-3 basketball tournament. They could do a home run derby. Maybe even a Strongman’s contest. For RK, they could play some golf! There are tons of ways the NFL could be creative, and I think the players may actually buy in and compete and have fun with all that competition! Injury risk would be way down and everyone would have a good time.
