Is anyone concerned that Ruggs is the next Darius Heyward Bay?

I think you “could” and I am not sure if that is true. DHB went to Maryland while Ruggs played in a better program against better competition with Bama.

Zac, come on… OPEN YOUR EYES!!!!!!! I hate to keep bringing this back up but seriously??! All Tom has done is dink & dunk, cheat, rely on great defense and leave his pregnant significant other to go play slap n tickle with a model!! He’s always had a hall of fame head coach, great defense and a cheating franchise to support him! Sure he has some records now but that’s only because he has played for longer than Peyton did! Peyton Manning over Brady EVERYDAY. Trust me, I’m his freaking forehead!!

Rk…..

My mavs play your nugs tonight and I can’t wait to see in person Luka show Jokic what it’s like to Actually be a legitimate MVP candidate. If you wanna put a pizza bet on it I’m more than game.

Now go broncos, I’m surprised I haven’t seen fans asking for us to bring back Wade. I know I know this wouldn’t work with Vic because he won’t give up play calling, but could you imagine how fun those two would be together?? The two funniest old dudes in the league together would truly be something to see.

Who is the number 1 guy each of you want out of free agency?

Thanks for the great content as always and sorry Denver fam for the L y’all are taking tonight

Probably in the minority, but I’m not concerned if Tua goes to the Chargers. Competition in the division is a good thing, and the Chiefs have dominated the division for the past 4 years. It would be nice if the Chiefs’ division games were actually competitive, and not trending towards pre 2019-AFC East level of onesided-ness.

Also, RK to get back onto the Sammy Watkins comparison. Viska trades off speed for more power, but there’s quite a lot of similarities as far as being dynamic with the ball in their hands and being a threat after the catch. I would mention the original comparison that I had for him last year (………Cordarelle Patterson…….) but I don’t want you to get mad xD

Lastly, I’m generally against paying running backs any significant money, but Mase- I know you like your Badgers- what do you think about signing Melvin Gordon in FA this year? He didn’t exactly do anything to warrant the top-tier money he wanted, so I expect a pretty cold market. The Broncos are looking for a compliment to Lindsay, and Gordon brings good receiving and adequate pass blocking skills. Also, for the past 3 years, his highest yards from scrimmage total has come against a division rival so there’s something to be said for familiarity.

No doubt the more realistic and sensible option is to look on Day 3 in the draft, but just spitballing here.

Hey guys really looking forward to the first official offseason as a subscriber.1) I’ve noticed quite a few other members of the DNVR community are growing their families including myself. Would really be curious if y’all would be willing to open up to some DNVR merch for the babies? 2) do you think Justin Simmons gets a contract that sets the bar for safeties from here on out? Von set the bar with his contract after SB50, granted Justin isn’t a SB MVP but he balled out this year. I think he will be a great leader and player the coaches can point to for years to come on how to be a successful player and we need to do whatever it takes to keep him here.

Posted too late to get this on yesterday so here’s a copy/paste from the last one.

Guys,

Heard an interesting chat today claiming that the broncos D line is going to be in trouble this year, and I have to say I disagree. I think we can rest easy in Wolfe coming back, I wish Shelby would do the same but feel his performance earned him some riches and good on him for that, well earned. Jones and Walker are a couple of rising stars with pass rush prowess, and a run defending D End is not hard to find in the later rounds of the draft. I think with a pocket collapsing Nose Tackle that can scare QBs Next year we have a lot to look forward to in our defensive front. Have you guys heard anything about Fangio’s thoughts on his line’s overall potential and plan going forward?

Also quick idea, can we make it a rule that anyone who misspells Peyton’s name with an “A”, forgets to list 3 for Mr B, or 7 for Elway in their comments owes the first round if they attend a watch party?! I’m all about free beer on someone else’s tab.

Stay awesome guys,
Danimal

Mase! Ill help curb the Bachelor talk! (Maybe, i know you are Star Wars fan, but are youna Star Trek fan?)

Every time Ryan talks bout the Bachelor, ill talk about my favorite Star Trek series lol.

Ryan dont worry, you were semi right about a space themed showed titled Voyager.. Star Trek Voyager that featured Captian Katherine Janeway at the helm of the USS Voyager, piloting the ship and crew back accross the delta quadrant, 10,000 lightyears away from earth, after a freak accident. Dodging Borg and various other space dangers, im sure Voyager would be right up your alley Lmao.

Love yall!

I’m a new subscriber and enjoy your daily podcasts. Keep up the great work!

Now for those of us who remember those early Super Bowl losses to the Giants, Washington, and the Niners those Broncos teams really shouldn’t have participated in those championship games if it weren’t for Elway’s heroics during the season/postseason. Do you think that if Elway had an offensive genius coaching the offense in those games he would’ve changed the outcome of any one of those 3 Super Bowl losses, and that even includes the gut wrenching blowout vs the Niners?

Hello again, Gentlemen

I must’ve posted my comment too late for it to make it on to yesterday’s pod so I just copied and pasted it here.

I wanted to start off my comment with a little bit of trivia. You’ll probably know the answer but I want to ask anyway.

I mentioned in my last comment that I am a high school English teacher in Nebraska. I’m currently at a different high school this year but I spent the last few years teaching at Omaha South High School. Do you know which current Broncos player attended Omaha South High School?

Also, if you could just magically add two players to the Denver Broncos roster (one on offense, one on defense, or special teams I suppose) who would they be? You can disregard availability and salary cap implications when picking your players.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks again for everything you do.

Good Sirs,

Please forgive my delinquency. I was kidnapped by Santa Claus, which is to say I was consumed by the holiday work rush and a new romantic partnership—shibby! Rest assured, I’ve been keeping up with you, my favorite Kardashian’s, err day.

Mase, drink some coolaid with me. Scratch that, let’s dump the bowl over our craniums and hail, “Drew Lock is my Q.B. One Kenobi!”

I’m with you on trading back to draft Biadasz and accumulate picks (not nose picks, get your head outta the gutter, Ryan!). We have a bushel full of moth holes to fill so it’s prudent to rebuild the roster in the aggregate as opposed to staying put for a no-man’s-land-pick we’ll probably bungle anyway since our 1st round draft history is shabby doo at best.

Love actually,

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the coming Pats focused comment, but I want to believe the witch is dead

a) I understand the thinking that league office wants Brady on the LAC, but ignoring that it seems like a natural match that doesn’t get mentioned is Brady to the Colts. They are QB needy and have the team to win now. Plus a better O Line than the chargers.

b) My greatest fear is that Bill ‘Grumpy Lobster Boat Captain’ Belichick (as he has been called) trades for Detroit’s first to get Tua. Boston deserves a 100 year title drought after the last 20 years, but I worry they may cheat their fate.

Back to the Broncos,

c) What do you think of KJ Hamler? He’s a lightning fast receiver out of Penn State, and seems like he’s projected to go day two in the draft. I don’t know if he and DaeSean Hamilton both being from Penn State would also help, but probably couldn’t hurt! Plus free up some earlier picks for other positions.

Thanks

What’s up y’all. Been listening for awhile now, I actually remember the Trevor vs Paxton competition and the point system with it. It was awesome and I was hooked. Easy to say we are far away from that now (thank god). Was just a moocher until last month when my girlfriend and I got a subscription, she’s never really been into sports until we started dating and kinda got into it. But she loves your Guys podcast and listens to it everyday with me. She’s a pretty cool lady!, and she gets more and more into the broncos with every podcast. So thank you guys for that! Anyway quick draft question, would you guys rather Henry Ruggs fall to 15 or trade up to let’s say 8 or 9 (not give away a 1st round pick) and draft Jerry Jeudy? I think Ruggs has a chance to be great with that speed however has some question marks as almost all players do when coming into the draft, but jerry is the real thing, he WILL be a great receiver. Just my opinion but what’s y’alls opinion? Anyway you guys are awesome and thanks for the pod! Can’t wait to start commenting more and more with the off-season, sorry for the long one today!

Wuuuuuuzzzzzup fellas. Just wondering what your take is on Kenneth Murray? Personally I love his style. He’s like a heat seeking missile and is great in zone coverage. Not sure he falls past 20 or is a priority, but it is interesting to think about.

Hey y’all! I wanted your thoughts on the Broncos’ seemingly uncanny ability to get burned by tight ends season after season. Every year I have hope that we will find a player or a scheme that will finally end our woes, but yet again we go an entire season where TE’s boast career games against us. I don’t think I can handle Kelce shredding us twice a year for much longer. I know Ryan loves The Bachelor, but maybe the broncos version of “Catching Kelce” can involve the line backers a bit more.

Hi guys!

Been a few weeks. We went down to Siesta Key to spend Christmas with my girlfriends family. While down there I popped the question and am happy to say there will be a future Mrs. Pancake!

Mase I was once like you and had no interest in the Batchelor shows. While I’m not a die hard fan I have to say as far as trash tv shows go, it’s pretty good. The Fiancée is one of those die hard fans of the show. We decided to make a bet and pick 2 each that we thought would win when the photos of the contestants were released. Let’s just say I’m feeling really good with my Kelly F and Hannah Ann picks right now!

As always love the Pod guys!

I know Scangarello is staying (right now) but something that crossed my mind;

In 2017 Pat Shurmur interviews with the Bears. A report comes out that he would keep Vic as the DC if he gets hired. Another report said that Vic- who was out of contract in 2017- would follow Shurmur wherever he got hired.

It seemed the original plan was for Shurmur and Vic to be a package deal, and James Bettcher would join the Bears as their DC. In the end, Vic ending up staying in Chicago and Bettcher and Shurmur ended up in NY together.

To sum things up, it seems like there’s an established relationship between the two, and they’ve been keen on working with each other for a while. We know Scangarello wasn’t Vic’s ‘guy’, and coaches tend to get a stronger hold of bringing their own guys in the second year. Not to mention Kubiak was Vic’s OC, until he wasn’t. Nothing is ever set in stone.

Not to mention the fact that he comes from Andy Reid’s tree and was Steve Spagnuolo’s OC in St Louis, so he has familiarity with the Chiefs’ staff. I always thought the Broncos would’ve been better suited to go after a veteran OC anyway.

That said, by most accounts, Scangarello is safe and I doubt the Broncos would want to disturb Lock’s development by putting him in a new system, but with Shurmur being a ‘free agent’ now as well as having a better track record as a QB developer, I’m intrigued.

Hey guys, when i hear Elway speak this offseason i feel the front office and coaching staff are more united in the personel desicions, it seams he trust this coaching staff much more than the last. When Vance was here it felt like Elway didn’t care what he had to say and i don’t blame him lol.
I like the direcction this francise is headding, at least they will be fun to watch with all the young talent we have.
Many people want Elway out but i think he has done an excellent job, at least 25 of the 32 teams would trade places with what the Broncos have acomplished in his time.

If you are listening and you havnt subscibed yet you will be missing out, the guys at DNVR have the best coverage by far of the offseason, senior bowl, combine, etc. And this year adding Mase will take it to another level.

Hey guys.
I think everyone and their grand mother is gonna is gonna target WR in the draft this year, I think the key may be to pick up Amari Cooper instead of James Bradberry, Byron Jones or CHJ and draft Christian Fulton in the first. I think the huge amount of the WR prospects may drive the prices down on vets. Also how great would it be to see Cooper go off for 150 yards and two TDs twice a year against the raiders.

I’ve been very intrigued by the certainty that mcgovern would be back, not surprised to see the doubt arising now.

Also we know how fast Robby Anderson is (if not watch 2018 Bradley Roby tape) I would want to draft someone as well as signing Anderson though.

How I met your mother is better than friends

Also down for a mock draft from you guys. Obviously Zac is trading up for ruggs, Ryan is trading up for Viska, Mase is selling the farm to pick Tyler B 2nd overall right? Lol

Thanks keep up the great work.

My Dudes!

Thank you for taking a couple of minutes yesterday to read my news to the DNVR family. I really wanted to comment the news on a day all three of you are on, so when I saw all three of you on the live pod I just had to pull the trigger 🙂

Now I want to talk about something really quickly. Elway gets a lot of hate from people around the league for some misses and such. But watching this 2020 coaching cycle and how teams are moving forward with the interviews, I feel like the process that Elway conducted last year was way more organized and thought out from what the Giants/Panthers/Cowboys did. They all basically pulled the trigger so fast without crossing the rest of the candidates off the list. Elway took his time and really went through the process and looked under every rock he could have.

armchair GMs want the Broncos to pick a WR in round 1. If the WR class is as great as “the experts” are saying, there should be excellent options available in round 2. In my humble opinion, O line is a greater need right now and should be addressed first. I think of Dak Prescott in his first year playing behind a great O line in Dallas. That’s a model I’d like to see the Broncos adopt.
