AJ, Good take on the game. This whole situation was just too predictable after Teows and the Nashville players tested positive. I was surprised that The Avs even left Denver. I will be amazed if the Avs and other teams Covid list does not increase. Appreciate your comments on the pod tonight that people just need to be considerate of others and do what is best for the Greater good of humanity. The selfless qualities in our society seem to be lacking. Thank you for your insights and be well.

The players will always want to play, but this was an inevitable loss. Simply the blue line was decimated, and we didn’t have enough players. A vote by the players is allowed?

So who is this on? The NHL? Sort of, but not really, it’s on Bednar and the Avalanche. If there was a vote by the players allowed by the NHL, the coach has to be the one to step in and say wait a second, this is not a throw away game and for the good of my team, I have to disagree with a player vote to play.

The Avs FO and Bednar are essentially saying the decision to play is a decision to be OK to take a likely loss. I don’t see it any other way.

It’s very clearly on the Avalanche. They decided to go ahead with it. They were fine with it. It’s both admirable and stupid, which is the line courage always walks, right?

All love to you my friend. I’m glad the plea for empathy landed with someone. Hopefully you aren’t alone.

Looking ahead, it’s not like Saturday will be any better. Why would the Avs even want to keep going like this?

Now that the Avs are shut down due to Covid til after xmas, the decision to play last night only looks worse.

If they want to win a cup, group needs to be smarter about these strategic decisions. Who’s leading these decisions? Sakic? Bednar? It should not be the players. Also another game where everyone is breathing onto each other in the dressing room just risks more cases. If this depletes our roster further, someone up top really needs to look themselves in the mirror about doing whats necessary to win a cup. Cant just give up two points like that and expose the roster further.

Good on them for taking it on. So much of hockey is all about overcoming adversity, and a this was good opportunity to give it a try. This team needs to become able to step up in circumstances like this. What if it was the playoffs and they lost both their goalies or EJ and Calvert went down or Kadri got suspended.

At least the Nashville folks that were already at the game or on the way got to see a game.
AJ, your rant on the pod hit the nail on the head, and needs to be said more often.
