My Gents,

A strange silver lining scenario if I may ?

1) Sutton starts out slow coming off the injury.

2) Sutton is not going to get the same 50/50 long ball opportunists as he would with Lock. Not to mention, there won’t be a ton of touchdowns to feed all the pass catcher’s mouths.

3) Broncos resign Sutton to a moderate contract coming on the heels of what will be an underwhelming season catching short stuff from Teddy.

I’m not saying I don’t like the pick at #9, PS2 should be a really good player in the league, but we didn’t trade for stafford, Roger, or really any other higher tier Qb, we get a bargain in trading for Bridgewater. You guys have said that Vic and some people were leaning Teddy the whole time. So does that mean they intentionally wasted the preseason making it look like Lock had a chance, instead of building the timing and chemistry between everyone on the starting Offense with teddy?
If Vic is coaching for his job in September shouldn’t he have done everything to come out the gate swinging? Rant over lol sorry guys it just doesn’t make much sense to me. Thanks for the coverage and everything else you guys do for this community.

I have to disagree with you RK. I don’t think it’s fair to say the reason Drew isn’t starting is because Vic doesn’t have the luxury of letting him develop. If Patton wanted drew to play he would make sure that happens. Patton would not let someone he sees as a potential franchise QB sit on the bench because the head coach wants to keep his job. Patton doesn’t believe in drew enough to stick his neck out for him.

Fellas, greetings from the UK. A non-quarterback comment! Feel the respite!!

I LOVE our first round pick – loved it on draft day, love it even more now. Pat Surtain looks a special special player, and Champ’s endorsement was great to hear.

Do you think PS2 takes a starting CB slot in the defensive depth chart? If he does, which of Darby or Fuller does he displace?

Even if ends up officially listed in the depth chart behind these two, on what percentage of defensive snaps do you think he’ll see the field?

To all at DNVR and in Broncos Country around the world, have a great weekend!

Hi guys,

When RK says 82% of the poll wanted Lock, that’s a twitter poll, we all know twitter isnt real life, i think if you asked 100 people walking through the gates at this weeks game the figure would be closer to 60% Lock, even 50/50 is possible, thoughts?

Aside from the QB discussion you’ve have also talked a ton about Vic’s ability or lack there of with decision making, is it safe to say they hasn’t improved at all with him even openly talking about playing any starters Saturday? And I believe if you play 1, play them all, don’t throw some out there with 2s and increase any risk of injury. Am I wrong with these thoughts?

Pumpkin spice szn is back kings! Can I get a yaasssss?

Anyways, I would like yalls opinion on something. So the 1st 4 broncos jerseys I got, those players retired, got traded, or left in free agency the following off season. This became known as my jersey curse. The curse was finally broken by Champ Bailey in 2009 and a few others since, but it still has a 6-4 lead. My issue is I really want a Justin Simmons jersey but at what cost? At.What.Cost? Do I risk it?

Hey guys,

Since I really botched the press conference, let me clear the air. I have no idea what I am doing. Just curious what’s the over/under on which week I’m fired. If I had to guess, Id say week 11 at the bye. Have a great weekend and keep up the great work. If it weren’t for you guys and your amazing QB score board, I never would of picked a starter!

My boys! After letting the dust settle on this “qb competition” I can only come to one conclusion. Vic or the powers making this decision are lazy! It’s lazy to give a young guy less than 20 starts, a messed up offseason due to Covid, then bench him when he’s playing his best ball. It’s lazy not to continue developing Lock and they are left with another qb decision next year while never knowing for sure what Lock could become. At the outset of this “competition” if Vic was asked if both qbs are essentially equal, he would pick Lock. Any sane person would take the young guy with upside over a middle of the road veteran if they were equal in the coaches evaluations. Maybe I am being too harsh, but I don’t think this was a real competition. Vic had his mind made up in April. Either way go Broncos and go DNVR.

Zac — As we all know, Teddy won the QB competition. This makes you the victor of our pizza bet. Congrats on your winnings. All glory to you, my friend. Tell me your Venmo handle? I’ll have my agent transfer the funds. How many dollars is a pizza pie in Denver anyhow? I wish I could air mail you a New York pie, but I worry that my carrier pigeon would eat it.

What would be a worse look for Paton:

1. Teddy starts all 17 games in 2021 and Drew leaves after this year then takes the leap in the next season and make a pro-bowl and takes his team to the playoffs.

2. Justin Fields gets the reigns next year and make the pro-bowl and makes the playoffs

I’d say 1 because we already had Drew, but could argue that 2 since fields making that leap in his second year. I’m bored at work so wanted to hear your thoughts!

Thanks!

I think it’s 2. If Fields flourishes, it will haunt the Broncos in the same way that having Josh Allen for a week at the Senior Bowl and then passing on him and picking Brock Osweiler over Russell Wilson do. It’s not fair to PS2, just as the Allen thing really isn’t fair to Bradley Chubb. But as long as QB remains in question despite all of the other things being in good shape, the Broncos are an impeccably-appointed house with furniture straight out of an “Architectural Digest” photoshoot that has a crumbling foundation.

Too early for Pumpkin Spice. I’ll wait until the first cool night of the season (of course, that came early last year, with some downright cold nights and the snowstorm right after Labor Day).

Been thinking about this a lot since I read the comment. Paton does have the power to have stopped this choice at any time — and he chose not to exercise it.

Now that we have settled the QB competition, we can finally move onto more important topics like if there is going to be a new Madden league with Madden coming out last week. I am a Playstation guy and am looking to get in on the action.

Would Peyton Manning be a first ballot hall of famer if he’d had a catastrophic injury early in his career?

I’m not going to argue Bridgewater‘s nomination case just yet. I’m just saying that we know very little about what he’s truly capable of right now. I mean he was the 17th best QB while playing as the Panthers QB without McCaffrey. He also played part of that season injured.

We know his ceiling was being selected as an all pro. We don’t know for sure how much lower it is after that injury. Last time we bet on a talented quarterback that was coming back from injury it worked out pretty well.

Hey fellas, I’ve been trying to think about why the Teddy decision feels so frustrating for some people. I think most people understand that Teddy will be a pretty decent starter for us, and will probably be better than a lot of the QB play we’ve had since the Peyton years but I think a lot of the frustration comes from knowing that he likely won’t be here next year. Of course the NFL is full of turnover and players come and go but as fans we still liked to feel connected to players on the team and if you know there’s a high chance he won’t be here next year it makes it hard to connect to that player, especially when they’re new. Of course, anything could happen. Teddy could ball out like never before and get a new contract. Or Drew could come back and prove he deserves another chance next year but when Teddy was named the starter I think we collectively realized that this is going to be a “lame duck” season and there’s a decent chance that neither Drew or Teddy will be the starting QB come Week 1 of the 2022 season. And so the quarterback carousel rolls on and on..

My Fantasy league has added an Individual Defensive Player to our lineup this year, assuming turnovers 2 pts, tackles & pass deflections 1 pt, and touchdowns 6 which Bronco would you draft given a free pick?

Guys good news I found out you don’t need the Broncos to make you feel horrible for being apart of the fan base, other Broncos fans will do it for you! People are ALREADY living in the past with Drew. He lost the job, it’s over. If there was a case to be made it evaporated with that sack fumble play IMO. Performance by both QBs were similar and that was the difference maker I feel. It was nice seeing the fans in the front row getting excited for the Court TD!!! He lookin fresh out there

Bring on the friggin Giants,

Your pal Steve
