Hey guys quick what-would-you-do scenario for you. The Broncos make you interim GM, giving you the ability to control the draft and any other signings you might want to make this off-season. Your goal is to get the team to win as many games as possible this year so that they sign you up as their GM long term. What would you do?

Mack Jones in spoonerism form is pronounced Jack Moans, which is the best of the rookie bunch, although Lay Trance ain’t bad either. What’s your favorite spoonerism that you use often? Mine is Shake a Tower when I need to wash myself.

With all the talk around trading up or teams trying to jump the Broncos for a QB, I have been wondering about the patriots. Namely, why on earth would anybody in the rest of the league be open to dealing with the patriots if it meant them finding their franchise QB?? I understand you take the best offer but is there not a small part of every front office that wants to see the Pats writhe in pain for a few years because of all the success they had for the past 20? That’s just me but if I was a gm of any of the other 31 teams I would refuse to trade with them for them to get their guy just so they know the pain QB purgatory!!

Hello men, long time since our last post, but we’ve been listening religiously, so thank you for the incredible content. My 13yo son David (the better half of Virginia Beach Broncos) is in the Mac Jones camp, where I’m still pulling for Drew. However, we’re both pulling for Justin Fields now; my daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was 7 (she’s now 19). Once they figured out the correct prescriptions, the epilepsy has been managed amazingly. I understand why a GM might have pause with this revelation, but I hope it doesn’t end up affecting Justin’s draft position.

Thursday night we’ll be hosting our second annual Zoom party with friends back in Colorado while watching DNVR’s coverage. We’ll see you in the comments section!

Hey guys quick question to start off what will be the best way to follow your draft coverage?  Will be excitedly tuning in with y’all and can’t wait!

Now to the more juicy topic and I will try to summarize my thoughts without making this post too long.  Sorry in advance Zac you won’t like it.
My QB Rankings:
1. Wilson
2. Lawrence
3. Lance
4. Fields

To explain:
It doesn’t really matter about the top 2 because everyone knows they are going 1 & 2.  Just put Zach #1 to show that’s how much I like him.  His mechanics especially footwork are amazingly good!
I wish after the 49ers trade we offered nearly the exact same deal maybe plus Drew Lock for #2 overall.  No chance now with Darnold gone, but here’s why:
I think if we got Wilson we would instantly be competing to have the best QB in the AFC West.  I know… call me crazy, but Wilson has far better footwork mechanics = more accurate than Mahomes, I think a quicker release, and just as big of an arm.

Lance is the guy I realistically want so much to be a Bronco.  My comp is he is a way more accurate version of Josh Allen out of college, and I think he is going to shock people in the way that Dak did with how quickly he is going to start and play well!  Wow, the ball just explodes out of his hand! Every catch at his pro day you could hear the pop of it hitting reciver’s hands. If he goes number 3 I don’t want a first round QB in this draft.  Just pick up draft capital for next year.

Fields scares me, just seems like a poor man’s Lamar Jackson with lots of polish needed in every area of his mechanics. It may be too much to be able to fix.  He will have a throw I like, but then moments later he will throw a complete dud. Also if he is struggling to get to 2nd reads in college he will have such a hard time learning to get to his 2nd+ reads in the next level.  We’ve already seen how a QB that’s a slow mental processor works out in Paxton Lynch. ​Don’t get me wrong Paxton was so bad his college highlight videos made me cringe. Field’s isn’t that bad… but in the meantime defenses will feast on that and our variety of offensive weapons go to waste with a QB that can’t see the field.

And finally Mac Jones, sorry Zac, I just don’t see it.  Why do you like him and Alabama in general so much Zac?  I think we could draft him and still have the 4th best QB in the AFC West.
I’ve watched the pro days from the top 5 QBs and some tape too and as a former HS QB that loves to teach friends how to properly throw this is my brief summary. Will root for whoever we draft, but really hoping the Fields interest is one last smoke screen to hide the Love for Lance! Go get him if the 49ers pass! Go Broncos!

What is up with this notion that trading a future 1st to go from 9 to 4 is too much? I get that having a 1st round pick is always beneficial but its not like this team has a ton of glaring holes plus we’ve got the salary cap space to make moves in free agency next year.

Our record over the past few seasons is clouding the fact that Denver has one of the better rosters in the NFL and we’ve proven time and time again that we can add all the blue chip talent we want (Miller, Chubb, Simmons, Sutton, Jeudy, Fant, etc.) but we still won’t be a winning team without a winning quarterback.

I also don’t think it’s realistic for us to finish with high enough draft position to get a promising qb prospect anytime soon because this team is too well put together to finish with a top 5 pick. We had arguably the worst QB play in the league and a shadow of our projected starting defense and we still BARELY landed in the top 10, which we are seeing BARELY gets us in range, even for a deep QB class. Unless Paton plans to devolve into complete dysfunction, he’s going to HAVE to overpay for a quarterback whether he likes it or not.

If what is being whispered about the Broncos feelings on Fields is true, it would be beyond idiotic in my opinion to leave the opportunity open for a team like NE, CHI, or WAS, to jump ahead of us. We ARE a quarterback away from contending. The defense is ready and we can’t expect this offense to grow without a bona-fide player at QB. Accumulate assets for what? Forget the points scale, forget the prudence/discipline. You’ve built the giant, now you need the QB to wake it from its slumber. If Justin Fields is that dude, you go get him and I don’t care if it costs 3 first rounders.

2 points…..

1. If you love the guy you go get him… right? Move up to #4 even if you lose a 1st next year. As picks aren’t graded as high in future years, spend those and then trade down later in the this draft to amass draft capital next year. Mucking around trying to save next year’s 1, might mean you miss out. You may have lower value picks next year, but have a ton. How many fans lose their “ships” if a 7th rounder flames out? You lately have been risking it, trying to save that pick. Draft picks are alway a crap shoot. Get who you want.

2. Catching up with my 9ers mate for draft day, will you be recording the DNVR version on You tube for me to watch post draft? I’m keen as to see your reactions as it plays out, but he won’t be. LOL. It should be available I hope post draft. I’m sure the Big Tebowski’s hot takes will be fun to hear.

hey guys- so this is pretty long winded but i think there’s potentially something here, so here goes;

so i went back and looked at all the pro days that paton attended and one sticks out like a sore thumb- the south carolina one. the reason it sticks out is because they only had one top-tier prospect- unlike a team like penn state that has 3 top 100 prospects- and neither fangio or donatell were on the trip. also this trip to see horn was after the broncos acquired kyle fuller at which point cornerback became less of a consideration for them

that got me thinking. what if the main reason of the trip was to put the framework of a trade in place? i looked at the other GMs who attended and the one that jumped out to me was packers gm brian gutekunst

there’s various reports coming out the packers-sphere on jordan love, varying from the packers want to trade him or the packers want to push him with another qb. if y’all think back to 2019 the packers- this same regime (lafleur/gutey) were very interested in drew. i’m convinced they took love in 2020 because of how drew looked in 2019.

gutey has a history of trading for toolsy 2nd round qbs with shaky accuracy when he traded then starting corner damarious randall for deshone kizer who was worse than drew as a starter in cleveland, so there’s a precedent on the packers’ side here.

if the broncos go on to draft fields, i think we can all agree that if the broncos draft fields then teddy bridgewater makes the most sense as a veteran in the room and drew will get traded.

what if the packers trade a 4th for lock and the broncos then use that pick on teddy?

I’m not sure how close you all are to the situation, but from what Ben Allbright has been putting out on KOA and on Twitter, the Broncos seem to favour Mac Jones and would potentially take him at 9, but if not, trade out of the pick. In your opinion, how likely is it that it’s Jones or trade down? It seems a little off to me, and his proximity to the organization (literally and figuratively) makes me wonder if there’s an element of misdirection here to prevent teams from jumping them… Thoughts?

Hey guys, I don’t comment much cause I understand you guys get a lot of rants on these comments but Being on Twitter during draft time is annoying lol having guys like Joe Rowles stirring up the toxicity haha. But I’m trying to be as open minded as I can with this years draft. I trust Paton’s plan but it is concerning seeing the possibly of trading for Bridgewater. It’s not like we haven’t been down this road the last few years (sarcasm). Thanks for all you do guys.
