First game imo. May also depend on AZ’s goalie schedule. Teams like best on best

Can I give a small shout out to Saad for his pass selection on the toews goal? He looks, sees toews open on the rush, yet passes to a double covered MacKinnon. If he passes to toews, the opposition has time to break off and single cover both. But he sees Mack flying, knows he can beat both guys, and it will leave toews wide open. That’s just a really nice play, and one of the better secondary assists I’ve seen. That’s one of those goals I’d love to see get the old Mike breakdown treatment.

I’d love to write multiple Film Rooms on how some of these goals have been created lately but with them playing every other day it’s almost impossible to find the time to do them lol. I’ll get one out on something cool, though.

Speaking of goalie schedule, I assume coaches talk and say who they’re starting to opposing coaches. It just seems like backups start often against each other. Any insight on this?

Just the opposite I think. Bednar actually stopped telling the media last year who was going to start games because he “didn’t want to tip their hand” before games. Gamesmanship but I’m not sure what it was worth. Teams do like backups against each other because it means starters against each other. If a team is desperate, a starter gets them all, even b2bs.

Thoroughly enjoying the moment of this series. This is the great team on paper realizing its potential!
