Can you all explain dead money?
Is it like when you get paid but you know all of your scrilla is already destined towards things other than that sweet remote control car that your three-year old is way too young for, but that you need to get him because you could really have some great bonding time over it? Is it all like that?

Since the Arenado trade, I have found it very difficult to care about or root for the Rockies at all. I am, like a lot of Rockies fans, reassessing my MLB fanship. It got me thinking about the Broncos, my greatest sports love, and if it would be possible for them to make a move so boneheaded that it’d make me reevaluate my fandom of them. I wound up with this scenario: The Texans are entertaining offers for Watson and end up selling him to the 49ers for just two firsts; the Broncos instead decided to trade two firsts, two seconds, Von Miller, Courtland Sutton, Bradley Chubb, and Justin Simmons in exchange for Carson Wentz; they then turn around and immediately hire Adam Gase as head coach, Josh McDaniels as OC, and Andre Iguodala as DC. Even then, as absolutely irate as I would be, I think I’d still find myself rooting for the dumpster fire of a Broncos team. What about you guys, can the Broncos do enough wrong a’la Rockies that you’d seriously reconsider your fandom?

Fellas,
John Elway and Eli Manning never played a down for the teams that drafted them. Is there any worry within the NFL executives that college players will do the same if they are drafted by Houston. I don’t imagine guys drafted later in the draft will do so, but what about if Houston has a top 3 pick and the guy says “Screw this!”. It makes for great tv to see it play out, but it’s a bad look overall for the league.
How say you?

Morning boys,
Look Deshaun is a given if possible, but I have to say, I’m here for Minshew. I think he could surprise people paired with the talent we already have. He’s also a no drama fun dude but like Ryan said he’s a gritty competitor. I consider him a more complete QB than Drew and seems to be a guy who would thrive under pressure whereas Drew is pretty hit or miss in that area. I remember Melvins interview where he claimed Drew lacked real confidence in the Locker room. I think Minshew has real confidence and that will instantly appeal to the locker room especially the vets.
It definitely feels like a move will happen no later than the official start of free agency. Keep the Broncos news comin fellas!

MY BOYS!
I hope you guys are doing great. Y’all got me super pumped for the potential of getting Minshew today! So thanks for that. Today, I’ve got a couple questions (the second one is copy and pasted from yesterday, I think you forgot to read the second part of my comment). Also, Zac your article on Lloyd was really great, I thouroughly enjoyed it.
First off, we wer etalking a lot about cornerbacks yesterday, and I wanted to ask how likely you guys think it is that we trade for Marshon Lattimore? Also, how much would that cost us (in draft capital) considering the Saints are screwed in the cap space department?
The second is just something that I’m confused about. Do you guys have any idea why the Broncos seem to not love Philip Lindsay? I think I speak for the vast majority of Broncos Country when I saw we all love Phil, do the Broncos not seem to love him because he doesn’t fit in well with Pat’s offense? I don’t know, I’ve just always been confused on this and wanted to get y’all’s opinions. Thanks for everything!
Much love,
Sebastian

Hearing the Minshew talk is giving me déjà vu…. Its like the same conversation i remember hearing about the Broncos bringing in a weirdo named Jake Plummer from the disaster in the desert ??
Who’s the most likely BPA at pick #9 if nothing changes?
larrydennjr
As I’m watching tape and reviewing the season it seems pretty obvious about Jeudy and locks lack of chemistry ……Jeudy needs his qb to throw to a spot and drew doesn’t throw with anticipation he throws when his main reas is open and drew prefers that in cut route that noah and kj run not the sluggo or comeback or outs Jeudy ran mostly …….
Tim Patrick and courtland can go get it despite how inaccurate drew is throwing outside the hashes
Is this on Drew as a passer ? Or is it on shurmur not drawing up playa based on what he does well
Cuz one more thing no matter the route …. On play action drew is awesome but I noticed in shotgun or in the pocket i saw the difference in success on routes drew threw too

hey guys!
mase, did you get a good look at elijah molden when you were down there in mobile? he’s one of my favorites this year and i think he’s a perfect fit for the broncos. his size might mean he’s a nickel corner only but i also see some potential to play safety. his style of play reminds me a lot of kareem jackson.
also, do you have any thoughts two other guys that i love for the broncos- greg newsome and tay gowan. daniel jeremiah had newsome going 21 to the colts in his latest mock so he’s a potential trade down option and gowan is a size/speed prospect from ucf that reminds me a TON of l’jarius sneed. gowan’s stock is rising fast and he’s likely a day 2 pick

I think I’ll translate Lovethunderdownunder’s post in stages. Makes it more fun.
Today’s lesson: Aussies are lazy as all hell. Abbreviate things anytime we can. Chin Wag = a “Podcast” if I push the limits, blokes and birds have a chat about a subject that can be an intense chat about something they love.
RK, You were right. A woman, can be a Sheila, a bird and RK picked up on that. Billabong in a lake.
More translations to come.
Now “Stache” talk. RK, love ya mate, but Sam Darnold as #1 on that list??? IMO, he’s Drew Lock #2. Completion percentage not good. TD/INT ratio not good. We need someone to steady the ship, not repeat the roller coaster. We all see things through our eyes, but he’s proven the least, if you look at his college production and interception problems and how that carried over. I’m hoping that you put him at #1 as you really want our Drew to succeed.
Minshew has better numbers than just about all on the list, playing for a crap team and COSTS the least. He’s also less likely to be a slap in the face to Drew. If we don’t get Watson or similar, then he’s my guy.
Bring some Breck Brews for you visit down under and the pub crawl will be epic. Come over when it’s AFL season, so you get the chance to see our no pad game with the speed of NHL and the intensity of NFL. Just make sure you declare you Wagyu beef from Hassell catttle company

Look – I’ve had a few comments in my time which have been scribed on the right end of a few drinks. Yesterday was on the end of 16 hour work day, and then wine..and plenty of it. I hope it didn’t irritate you all too much. I enjoyed it. Writing it, and listening to it. Hope I wasn’t alone.
Anyway Football.
I enjoyed the discussion around play call verbiage.
How many variables are communicated within the play call?
What does the complexity add to the success of the offense?
DCHawkGuy
RK mentioned yesterday that Jameis Winstons upside as a Saint is very high, would you say that he has HOF potential in that system??
Conspiracy Theory Time!
The Broncos almost traded for a QB last week (as the title of the last pod implies). I think this could’ve been Watson. What if the Broncos put in a winning bid and the Texans seriously considered accepting, but then backed out and that’s when they announced they wouldn’t trade him. The timing works out pretty perfectly if you ask me. The good news here is that if the Texans DO decide to trade him, it means the Broncos would have the leading offer and we could actually see Watson on his way to the Mile High City.

MY BOYS! John Oliver said, “Sometimes it’s good to remember how bad food can be, so you can enjoy the concept of flavour to the fullest.” And Chi Chi Rodriguez stated, “Red meat is not bad for you. Now blue-green meat, that’s bad for you!” (Shoutout to the quality meat offerings available through Hassell Cattle Company). Now that I have laid that foundation, what is the worst food item and/or meal that you have had a sports arena or stadium? Which stadium did this take place at and when? Have a thrilling Thursday. DNVRMY SALUTE!
