Finding a sense of logic, the NHL announced tonight that all Avalanche games through February 11 will be postponed. This comes on the heels of playing three games in four days against the Minnesota Wild, who now have seven players on the COVID protocol list.

Tyson Jost was put on Colorado’s COVID protocol list last night and Gabe Landeskog followed suit today. Sensing where this headed, the NHL made the decision to shut down Colorado’s schedule for the next week.

The list of games for the Avs that will be postponed and (hopefully) made up at a later date:

February 4 vs Minnesota
February 6 vs St. Louis
February 7 vs St. Louis
February 9 vs Arizona
February 11 vs Arizona

The release from the league reads:

The National Hockey League announced today that Colorado Avalanche games have been postponed at least through Feb. 11 as a result of Players recently entering the NHL’s COVID Protocols. The decision was made by the League’s, NHLPA’s and Club’s medical groups in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Health who determined that more caution was warranted while the parties are analyzing test results in the coming days.

The team’s training facilities have been closed, effective immediately, and will remain closed until further notice. The League is in the process of reviewing and revising the Avalanche regular season schedule and it is expected that a decision on next week’s games will be made in the coming days. The Colorado organization has, and will continue to follow, all recommended guidelines aimed at protecting the health and safety of its Players, staff and community at large as set by the NHL, local, state and national agencies.

The Avs are the fifth team in the NHL to shut down their operations in the last week, joining Minnesota, Buffalo, New Jersey, and Vegas.
