For the record, I am down for Drew next year, not a hater. But Russ or Deshaun would be cool too, I like them both. But what I haven’t been hearing is what these guys cap implications would be. Yeah we know the trade ideas of multiple picks/players. But who else would we have to lose based on contracts and cap space?
Also, do you think that Fangio’s Defense laid the groundwork for the Bucs dominant showing?

So hypotheticaly if drew was the leading mvp candidate at week 8 do u think they would trade for deshaun still or no?

Interesting how the ridiculous Texans organization may increase our chances. They won’t get Watson to give in and they will get less trade value by being stubborn.

The most logical time for the Texans to get maximum value out of Watson is to trade him before the draft, as you know what the value of the 2021 draft pick is. Once the draft is over, you are getting the picks, but have no idea what they might be and odds are it’s late pick, as you guys have mentioned. Yes, they will have 2 1st round picks in each of the next 2-3 years, so that will help in the rebuild.

So, do you agree that there are 3 likely time frames?

I think, the lower down the list, you go the less they would get back, but this being the Texans, they might be dumb enough to play hardball.

How are teams able to cut contracts out that money even know if they kept the player the team we have to pay them the salary. Football finances confuse me

Each team is putting together their free agency and draft plans. Will the Broncos have 2 plans ready to go? One for if Lock is the front runner for the starter and one for Watson being the starter? You would hate for the team to get a trade call the day before free agency starts and they don’t have a plan ready for what the team would look like with a different QB.

Whats up guys!? Bros before hos. In this case u know which one Watson is. Hes gonna cost alot of money and assets to get. Mean while his front office , aka the pimp has his hooks in him and is not willing to let him go.
Can we do the responsible thing siding with the bros?
Meaning sign simmons , sign shelby, restructure von, and build this team with more 1st and 2nd round bros through the draft.
I say let’s keep the girlfriend happy, aka Lock. See if he takes the next step and learns how to do the dishes and fold that laundry. If so , we put a ring on it and we are once again a happy franchise, aka happy marriage.
If the girlfriend fails to improve next year we will be in a perfect position to draft the top QB prospect or we can lay down the assets necessary to acquire the infamous ho.
Because we all know that Watson is probably going to be riding the bench all year refusing to play.

Would they be salivating over it enough to influence it at all? Or have palms never been greased in the NFL before?

the other day y’all mentioned bringing in jj watt to help attract watson. that got me thinking;

we know the broncos are looking for a right hand for george paton. he’s a first time gm, and while he has elway to lean on, we know that he isn’t very present in the building these days so someone more hands on would help him more. we also know that the broncos are very cognizant of hiring diverse candidates.

with all that in mind, doesn’t it make total sense to hire rick smith to be paton’s right hand man? smith is obviously familiar with the broncos organization and wants to get back into a front office role. smith drafted deshaun watson (and jj watt) and by all accounts they have a great relationship. also rick smith is the godfather to cal mcnair’s son so if the texans do trade watson, having connections to the player that’s being trade and the front office that’s trading him makes a lot of sense.

and on top of everything else, smith is a pretty good talent evaluator. the vikings have generally struggled with first round picks under the spielman/paton regime where as that was typically a strong suit of the texans when rick was running the show

So if Watson is a real possibility ? Doesn’t he have to force the issue ? They claim as is all of Houston best reporters that Deshaun hasn’t said anything it’s only his handlers ….is Watson kahwi leonard time is ticking things become difficult once free agency starts ? So why isn’t Deshaun speaking up or out and not his “handlers ” ??
