To me, it’s straight disrespectful that Mase will not get a TB12 jersey , I will be campaigning Daily until Mase gets one and hangs it up behind him so we can all see during the live pod.
If this fails by week 1 I will literally send one to the DNVR Bar.

Did you see him at the parade?? Dude is a Legend

No chance in hell. The only football jersey I own is that of Lee Roy Selmon, the most important figure in the history of Tampa Bay sports. That will not change unless Shaq Barrett returns and the Bucs wear orange throwbacks next year.

Fellas,

Who is the worst current QB the Broncos can realistically win the super bowl with? I mean if everybody is apparently available for trade these days, then why not get a guy who won’t cost the farm and hope that the roster can be good enough to win it all.

How say you?

Good day, good sirs!

TLDR: Roll it back with Drew, trade for picks next year, pray for a midseason trade with all those plus some future picks for Deshaun if Drew’s a train wreck, or use those picks to draft a first round QB. Only works if Houston plays hardball w/#4

========================================================================

I had an idea pass through the ol’ noggin, and I wanted to submit what is, to me, the ideal set of scenarios:

1. The Broncos trade back in this year’s draft, getting value picks where possible and turning 2021 picks into 2022 picks where it isn’t.
2. Roll it back with Lock and Hedge
3. Mr. B.
4. Now we’re at the crossroads where I think the best outcomes are, in order:

– Drew balls out, and the defensive rebuild can begin. Yay!!!

– Drew fails.
Houston’s been playing hardball with Deshaun.
Houston caves around week 4 when Denver comes knocking with a huge haul of picks – nothing beyond 2023, though. The Texans agree, since they need to do a quick rebuild. We get Deshaun, rebuild the D a little more slowly, but haven’t mortgaged the future too badly to do it.

– Mr. Hedge bombs, and we use the ammo for the best rookie we can get in the 2022 draft?

Thoughts?

One more thing – the recent deaths in sports journalism are a chilling reminder to let you all know that you’re doing a fantastic service for those of us out of town.

Also, I’d be remiss if I didn’t, in honor of both my Mother and Chris Wesseling, give a hearty F** Cancer.

Your scenario is quite possibly my favorite. I’m personally not ready to call Drew done, as stated in another comment, he has only started 17 games with multiple OC’s and an injury riddled team for most of the games.

MY BOYS!
Hope y’all are doing great. You guys asked us to comment on whether or not we would like Watson or Wilson on the pod. I would personally much rather have Watson. He’s already at Wilson’s level, or at least VERY close, and he is with the Texans! I obviously don’t need to tell you all how bad of an organization they are. Just imagine how much better he would be with, oh I don’t know, a team like the Broncos? And of course, he is also seven years younger. I know Russell won the Super Bowl (one of the, if not the worst day of my life), but as you guys said, he also had a historically incredible defense. Nevertheless, Russell is an incredible quarterback, but in my opinion, there’s no way I’d ever pass up on DeShaun for him. But let me know what you guys think about that. Also, Mase, I forgot to tell you yesterday. I would like to formally congratulate you on Manchester City’s title win in the Premier League. I’m not sure if you saw the Manchester United game against Everton over the weekend, if you didn’t it was heartbreaking. Six inutes into injury time, we were winning 3-2 and they then scored on a free kick. Game over, we really shoudl’ve come out with three points. It just seems out of reach for us to catch you guys. It’s not our year. You are very clearly the best team in the Premier League, and y’all will probably run away with the title. Hey, maybe we can get the FA Cup. But this isn’t a soccer podcast, so let’s hop into today’s question!
So I wanted to ask you guys, what what was it like your first time interviewing players? Were you guys really nervous to talk to them, were you excited? I would be feeling both of those. Also, has it gotten normal to you to meet and talk with the players? If so, when did that become normal? Thought it would be a fun question for y’all today! Have a great Thursday, and thanks for everything!
Much love,
Sebastian

Sorry in advance for the novel here, I’ll refrain from comments for a while, and next time I’m in Denver I’ll buy y’all a round of Breck Brews at the DNVR Bar to make it up to you guys, but sometimes our thoughts take words to express.

In defense of Drew Lock as a starter for 2021:

On yesterday’s pod, Zac said that if Trey Lance came to Denver and went 4-4 through 8 games nobody should be calling for a new QB because he’s on pace for 8-8 through the season, which is great for a first year QB… Yet Drew Lock went 8-9 and had to learn an entirely new offense in the middle of those games! (I’m saying 8-9 because he literally threw 5 passes before he was knocked out of that Steelers game)

Mase has said multiple times that no matter who is under center, rookies coming in like Justin Herbert rarely shine in their 1st year. Yet when we are talking about Covid impacting Lock’s growth, Mase said that intellectually the Covid argument doesn’t make sense because it wasn’t an issue for Herbert or Joe Burrow. I would argue that we shouldn’t expect every QB that comes out of college and into a brand new system to be on the Herbert / Burrow wavelength. Maybe those guys are great at remote learning and Lock is more of an in-person guy? But if that’s the bar we’re setting, than we would have to say Tua was a bust this year and that Miami should think about drafting another QB, because clearly Tua wasn’t on the same level as Herbert and Burrow, and I’d be willing to bet they would say his growth was also impacted by Covid. If we expect every rookie to be Justin Herbert or Joe Burrow in year 1, we’d be drafting a new QB every year.

My only point here is that because Lock has been around for 2 years (albeit in different systems), and because he was not a first round pick, most of us hold him to a much higher standard than we would a first round rookie at the end of his first year. But for all practical purposes, given his lack of experience in a new system, and only 17 games under center, he is basically at the end of his rookie season where he played for 3 different OCs. I honestly think 2021 would be his opportunity for a “sophmore breakout” year if given the chance. I’m not trying to be an apologist or make excuses for Lock. We absolutely need a hedge QB, but I’d much rather see the Broncos get a veteran guy that can come in and help if the wheels fall off, and maybe even help MENTOR Drew Lock, than to watch the Broncos spend a high draft pick grabbing a guy like Trey Lance who is just going to get booed off the field by the impatient fan base when he throws his first pick anyway.

hey guys!

i was thinking- isn’t in the broncos best interest for a watson trade to happen post draft? by that point, the two teams who are seen as frontrunners (miami and the jets) would’ve burned through their surplus draft capital (especially the jets, if they get another 1 for darnold) and it’s likely that the jets would’ve taken a qb at 2 which would take them out of the running entirely.

teams like carolina and sf potentially take qbs in this draft and longshots like washington and chicago probably address their qb with some form of veteran.

seems like this thing is gonna get drawn out a while but that might actually benefit the broncos. what do y’all think?

Hey gentlemen, long time no comment but I just had to chime in after yesterdays conversation on Russell Wilson or Deshaun Watson. As a resident of Seattle for the last 10 years, I’ve had to put up with Seahawks fans and their fanboy love of Russell Wilson, especially after they put the beat down on us in Superbowl 48. Thinking of this scenario however, made me smile as I imagined how my co-workers and friends would react to Russell becoming a Bronco. I’ve got to admit, that would be one of the happiest days of my life, BUT, as far as the future outlook of the Broncos, I think we’d be better off with Watson. I would have too much concern about Wilson’s long term durability after all of the hits he’s taken early in his career. That’s all I’ve got today, Hope you’re all staying safe and healthy!

Hey Guys …..A little clarity ….. I’m out on Watson …. The Texans aren’t even offering him for trade this could get incredibly messy and we don’t have the draft Capitol to compete to get him …..not for what it will cost……

I’d rather solidify this roster at corner lb and rt of the future and you just need to plug in possibly Russ , or.rodgers , or Dak or Ryan and be ready to go as oppose to the obstacles ahead with Watson ……

How you guys feeling about.phil after his VALID COMMENTS about shurmur …..and should Fangios be on the hot seat if personnel wise Paton doesn’t do enough to.fix the qb position is that on Vic ?

Hey guys,

Two questions for you today…

1. Do you guys eat crisp (chip) sandwiches in the States? I recommend prawn cocktail. Please make one and let me know how you got on. Bread, butter, crisps. That’s it.

2. What would be your best guess at the Broncos free agency vs draft plan? The two biggest talking points right now (outside of Simmons, Von etc) are the QB and CB needs. Do you think we’ll target the corner position in free agency or with the #9 pick? If we addressed it in free agency, and also picked up a vet QB to compete with Lock, what do you think we do with the #9? BPA or trade back?

Cheers

Ticked Off Thursday –

NFL relegation needs to be on the table. I’m tired of the Tank-For… mentality. It would serve two purposes – creates a developmental league and keeps fan bases from enduring their team’s sandbaggery.

MY BOYS! Random thought today for today’s DNVR Tampa Bay Buccaneers Podcast that I am sure Mase will appreciate. You know have had a pretty good past year? Two of my favorite college football players in recent years and guys that I was really high on in last year’s draft in Antoine Winfield and Tyler Johnson from the University of Minnesota. On New Year’s Day 2020, Johnson had a phenomenal day in the Outback Bowl played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, where Minnesota defeated Auburn 31 to 24. Johnson made some spectacular catches en route to a day in which he would amass 12 receptions, 204 yards, and two touchdowns. Winfield had five total tackles in that game. Flash forward to April where Winfield and Johnson both end up being drafted by Tampa Bay. A little over thirteen months after winning their last college game played in Tampa Bay, they would go on to win a Super Bowl played in Tampa Bay after playing eight regular seasons games there as Buccaneer rookies, and earning that right by winning three playoff road games to boot. Needless to say, I think those two have made themselves at home in Tampa Bay. Winfield throwing up the deuces at Tyreek Hill in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LV was sweet icing on the cake.

As of today, who do you think the two starting boundary and slot cornerbacks are for the Broncos come Week 1 of the 2021 season? Have a tremendous Thursday. DNVRMY SALUTE!

The Broncos are still recovering from multiple horrible drafts. How would you justify letting go of some quality players and much needed draft capitol as you bring in a veteran QB?. Keep in mind they will likely pay the type of money that you’ll need to rely on drafts to become a contender.

The likelihood of our team shooting itself in the foot while wearing a bulletproof vest is high in my opinion but, what says you? Do you just focus on today instead of thinking of 4yrs from now when you have no depth again and the disgruntled elite QB you scored is again pissed off because you’ve given away your future to simply land him?

My Boys!

This week has been so satisfying to see all these Chiefs fans absolutely melt down & get triggered by any meme I post on my FB that trolls the Chiefs. Not to mention the meltdowns from Mahomes wife & mom. & you can’t forget how Tyrann Mathieu attempted to make Tom Brady look bad and ended up just looking like a clown. I’ve never seen a bigger group of sore losers. They’re embarrassing themselves. They’re really having a hard to swallowing their humble pie. & they’re insisting that they lost because of the refs. Like yo you lost by 22 points. The game wasn’t even close enough for the refs to have any real effect on the game. Y’all lost. Take the L.

Anyways…I had an epiphany yesterday…what do you guys think about the potential of drafting BOTH JOK & Parsons!? Grab JOK somewhere in the late teens and early 20’s after trading down from 9 and gaining additional mid round picks. & then use those said picks to trade up to grab Parsons in the late 1st or early 2nd. I know he has character concerns and those said concerns would be the reason that he could still be available at that point…but with those concerns aside a duo of JOK & Parsons would be the closest thing we could get to replicating LaVonte David & Devin White…& thinking about them playing between Chubb & Von is very enticing…we double dipped at WR in the draft last year so it’s not out of the realm of possibility imo. This would also mean that we’ve grabbed a CB in FA as that position is a need as well especially now that we have cut Bouye. Thoughts?
