DNVR Rugby Podcast: Austin Gilgronis No. 8 Casey McDermott-Vai

Following “The Breakdown”, Colton talks with former American Raptor and current Austin Gilgronis No. 8 Casey McDermott-Vai about his 2021 fall season with the Raptors, signing with Austin, and the tour to Uruguay (9:06-21:06). Following the interview with Casey, Colton assigns an Instagram post as this week’s “Required Reading” and closes the show with “The Loop” (21:07-26:06).

Casey McDermott-Vai played two seasons with the American Raptors before making the jump to Major League Rugby and signing with the Austin Gilgronis. Originally from New Zealand, McDermott-Vai moved to the United States during his youth and picked up football. His versatility as a utility player for the TCU football team earned him a rookie mini-camp invite with the Seattle Seahawks. He made his return to rugby in November 2020 with the Colorado XOs – now American Raptors – and has turned that into an MLR contract with the Gilgronis.
