Hi guys,
Loving the senior bowl coverage on the podcast and the in depth articles!
Surely Mac Jones debut season has dispensed the myth that arm strength matters, and I’m certain any coach with half a brain dissmisses the myth, opting for accuracy, mental toughness and mobility!
And how awesome was the Broncos video of the coaching search? Nathaniel Hackett is inspiring!
Cheers.

Hey guys, You got me…..
I have been recently showing up in the YT chat and wanted to show my support since I have been watching/listening all the way back in the BSN days. Being a Broncos fan on the east coast is tough and you guys always keep me up to date and provide me with 60-90 min of pure entertainment. Anyways, since the QB class is only so-so, how would you feel about keeping Drew as the starter for one more year with Hacket now the head coach. In my opinion, this would be the best chance Locks had. Even if that doesn’t work, it would be entertaining and would set us up for Stroud or Young. What Say You? thanks and keep up the great work!

Hi again, sorry for the double comment I just had something to add;
Whats your food take for this combination on the build your own burger (Free Bar Plug)
You HAVE to have the cheddar, a fried egg, bacon and of course, the hatch chile cream cheese. On the surface it might sound weird but I promise you, this is my go to at the bar.
Thanks

When I take the long trip, that is.

My boys!
Hope you’re enjoying your time in Mobile.
Couple of QB questions for you…
1. Do you think the hire of Klint Kubiak as QB coach increases the chance of the Broncos trading for Cousins?
2. Does it feel like come draft night Malik Willis stock will be MUCH higher? I can see him going top 10. Maybe the Panthers.
Cheers

As a lawyer this is my take.
While racism is definitely abundant, I would bet this lawsuit gets thrown out. While the claims against the Dolphins, in particular, are damning. The claim against the Broncos is laughable, and makes Flores look so bad that the judge will have a hard time listening to the whole suit knowing Flores is blatantly lying in a suit. Saying people are racist because they “looked hungover” might be one of the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.
Coming back 3 years later and throwing accusations to make your claim “more juicy” is pathetic, and the judges I know do not take this kindly. Don’t be surprised is the Broncos counter-sue for defamation.
Flores is even on record saying how great the Broncos interview was and they got the right guy in Fangio, not to mention broncos literally just had a black Head coach. Honestly such a bad look and very good chance case gets thrown out for his lies.
Honestly if I were him I would hire a new attorney. No legit attorney I know should file suit with heresy claims. Honestly dumbfounded.

Agreed with all of this. Racism exists 100%, but Brian Flores’ case against the Broncos is beyond weak, going back to his comments in 2020 about how positive the interview with them was. Whatever happened to due process? We now live in a world where if you are accused of any bias, you’re immediately guilty in the court of public opinion.
If I am Elway/Ellis I’m counter suing for defamation.

Same here, it is honestly appalling what Flores said about the broncos. It would be terrible if true, but the fact that he made some of the junk he said out of thin air is saddening. It also is upsetting that racism DOES exist in the NFL through the Broncos or not

My boys! Glad to see you are still doing the show down in Alabama! All this new ownership talk has me excited, and nervous all at the same time. Living in Columbus, Ohio and being a Columbus Crew season ticket holder, I still have the memories of past ownership trying (and failing) to move the team fresh in my mind. Also I remember Modell moving the Browns to Baltimore in the 90’s. I have learned to not trust potential owners. Hopefully we get lucky and get someone who truly cares.
Have fun down there fellas, and keep an eye out for that famous Mobile Alabama leprechaun ?.
Cheers,
Alex

The Flores situation set aside (which it shouldn’t be) how much do you think Elway’s tenure as GM tarnished his all time legacy as a Bronco. I am too young to remember the 90s – but the tragedy that’s been the last 6 years in Broncos lives rent free in my head.

I know it’s unavoidable because of Flores is naming the Broncos as part of his lawsuit, so you are obligated to discuss his accusations; but I would offer that this whole topic is way more complicated than some notion of “systemic racism”. There are so many potential reasons why different ethnicities are disproportionately distributed across economic and employment opportunities in a society.
TLDR: I think there might be more variables at play than just race when it comes to employment/ownership discrepancies in the NFL (and race probably isn’t the reason EB, VJ, and BF aren’t currently HCs) is what I’m saying.
I would suggest reading/listening to a few of these authors (Thomas Sowell, Glenn Loury, T. Chatterton Williams, Kmele Foster, John McWhorter, Coleman Hughes, Jonathan Rauch) explore the possibility that just because the NFL owners are predominantly rich, old, white guys, doesn’t mean that it’s because of “systemic racism”. I know it feels intuitive likes it’s appropriate to say that it’s a problem that there’s not more black HC and owners, etc, but the underlying assumption then is that employment/ownership opportunity should perfectly (or just closely?) parallel the racial census in a society? I’m not sure there’s evidence that’s achievable or desirable, and sounds a bit utopian?
I believe someone there has a MD for a spouse, and more than a few people are involved in analytics; they should be familiar with the phrase “correlation does not mean causality”. A strongly held belief/opinion/conviction (no matter how obvious and/or intuitive it feels to us) should be treated as a hypothesis at best. Attempting to collapse all the social sciences, history, and economics of our country into one narrative where race is the preeminent predictive variable of human behavior (i.e. a “social theory of everything”) without objective evidence is sketchy to say the least. And, not without serious academic/scientific equipoise. For an analytics/sports example, PFF turns everything into a mathematical model and tries to predict how good a player will be, but the accuracy of their model, despite numerous correlations (even statistically valid correlations) between some trait and NFL production, is still “meh” at best. PFF is like flipping a coin. The rationale conclusion is that they’re likely missing some important variable in their model, and/or giving too much weight to certain existing variables. There’s another saying we should all be familiar with, especially in this digital, hyper-polarized age, “never attribute to malice, that which stupidity will explain”. Failing to adhere to these two adages is what leads to conspiracy theories, polarization, and another adage regarding what happens when you assume (makes an ass out of u and me).
The same arguments about the NFLs employment/ownership issues could be leveled at every business, everywhere in the world, for every type of minority. Discrepancies along racial, gender, sexual, religious, philosophical, familial, etc lines obviously exist, but may have nothing to do with bias/preferences for any of those particular categories. Correlation does not mean causality.
Does DNVR’s employment/ownership staff perfectly resemble the national racial demographics? Should it, would it be a better product if it did? Is it a bad company because it doesn’t and/or doesn’t spend more money to do so?
I would argue no, DNVR is badass and the best damn sports podcast in the country, and similar to many other businesses, lack of racial diversity is likely the result of far more factors than racism; and lack of racial/gender/religious/etc diversity isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it may even reflect individual choices/preferences of those minorities as opposed to racist decisions being perpetrated against them (e.g. Robert Smith doesn’t appear to want to own the Broncos).
Keep up the great work, and please convince me the Broncos aren’t going to spend a top 10 pick on a rookie QB this year…
