My understanding of the NFL rules on ownership are that:
1) A single owner must own at least 30% of the team.
2) They can have an ownership group but it cannot be more than 25 members.
3) They cannot borrow more than $1 Billion.
30% ownership of the Broncos would be roughly $1.2 billion depending on the sale price. There’s a good chance it ends up being more. Manning is worth about $250M so he could get close to that but probably not close enough.
As much as I love Manning though, Jay-Z is the most intriguing name I’ve seen. A big part of the NFL’s problems around race is that there’s only two non-white people in the room at those ownership meetings. It would really benefit the league to have somebody in the room that brings a different perspective.
Also, just imagine what the future of the Broncos looks like with Jay-Z and Manning as the faces of ownership? Just land a quarterback and we’ll be on prime time so much you’ll forget that football is played on Sundays!
Almost as interesting as the list of HC interviews is George Paton’s committee. He’s got Kelly Kleine, Patrick Smyth, Darren Mougey, Rich Hurtado, and Ray Jackson involved in the interview process. That’s a really stark contrast in personalities/styles than the Elway/Russell/Ellis contingent we’ve had in the past and it’s really encouraging that we’re capitalizing on the diversity of experience and ways of thinking in our building. I can’t quite articulate exactly what it is but the vibe is just different with George Paton at the helm and I’m starting to feel good about the Broncos organizationally again.

Are we too spoiled with George Paton’s first draft class? Most drafts would be considered a huge success if you got 2 or 3 starters and potential contributors but it seems like we may have gotten 6! Will future George Paton drafts be viewed as a let down if they don’t live up to the 2021 draft class or is any draft class a success as long as you get 1 or 2 legitimate long term starters?

What did i miss? ??
Love the off season pods so i had to come back, now that train wreck of a season is done!
I noticed Bill Parcels thinks Vic will get another HC job, wouldn’t it be funny if the team he coaches trades for Drew Lock.
Loved your breakdown of the HC applicants, I’m hoping Mr Paton breaks the defensive mentality and goes for a young, fresh offensive coaching panel, exciting plays is the only way to win the fans back.
Cheers.

Hey Yall! I’ve been waiting until after the natty to comment and introduce myself. Finally got a subscription for Christmas after finding yall early last offseason! I’m a grad student at UGA and a rare Broncos fan in the middle of Georgia. I’m excited to finally have a dedicated Broncos community and I’m now planning a trip out to Denver over spring break to get some member-sized Breck Brews. After my Braves and Dawgs won championships 69 days apart, I’m hoping their fortune rubs off on the Broncos next season! Sorry that your Draft Kings picks didn’t hit Zac.
As far as an actual question, I was wondering what are yall’s biggest “What ifs” in sports history, both Broncos and non-Broncos related? For me, I would have to say my biggest non-Bronco what if is: “What if Derrick Rose hadn’t gotten injured?” For a Broncos ‘what if’ I am stuck between: “What if we drafted Russ instead of Osweiler?” and “What if Rahim Moore had successfully defended Flacco’s 70 yard TD pass to Jacoby Jones in the 2012 divisional round?” For the latter, I genuinely think that the 2012 Broncos were the best/most complete team of the Manning era and we would have surely won the SB if we had beat the Ravens.
Go Broncos, Go DNVR, and, of course, Go Dawgs!

Hey fellas,
Question…do you think it’s possible for the Broncos to trade for Cousins as a means to stop the bleeding but not necessarily heal the wound, while still acquiring enough draft capital for Paton to go get his guy in the 23 draft and develop for 1-3 years under Cousins if they need to?
Thanks for all you do, I usually listen to y’all religiously on my way to and from work but the past few weeks of the season I was too disheartened to care. Ever since y’all have gone Manscape deep into the coaching search, it’s given me some hope for the Orange and Blue.

I think the perception of John’s lack of success over recent years and the magic that is Peyton is why the numbers are so skewed.

Hey guys! I was looking at the head coaching vacancies and something looked off. Then it hit me that Pete Carrol has not been fired. I honestly thought they would have fired him or at least make some changes in coordinators. I think this can really mean that Russel Wilson is up for trade. What do you guys think?

Totally forgot about Todd Bowles. I would quite like Dan Quinn, think he’s a level headed, likeable guy, who players respect, same as Bowles. Give me either of these, or Jim Caldwell, from the list so far.
Tell me tho, is Mase still talking lovingly about Jimmy G’s expressive eyes? Still chuckling over that one ?
Peace out fellas, and loved your new owner and new coach pods so far. Good stuff ?

I just want to say …. That I TRUST GEORGE PATTON ….he is the only piece of hope to turn this franchise around ….. And we all may have favorite candidates we like caoching to wise we all may want a QB … . But I just saw a GM hit on 5 of his draft picks ….. Make trades to keep the team competitive and left Fangio with 0 excuses …. I believe heavily if Patton had his choice he would have gave drew one last shot but he left it to the coach as he should ….. So imma trust his vision imma stop putting 3 years of elway on him and trust whomever he chooses that caoch and him will turn this team around …..
Have a good one fellas ???

My Boys,
Thanks for the pod. You guys have me excited for the season next year already. I will be at a game next year and I will paint my head again. When I go I will make sure to visit the bar again but the kitchen let me down last time I was there because they closed the kitchen early while my girlfriend and I was there and I was disappointed because I had a burger while there in the past and they are really good. 1 So how long do you think we will have to wait before we get a answer for who the coach will be. Also if they find someone they love do you think they will not let him leave the the building? 2 Also when do you think we will actually find out who are new owner will be? 3 for Mr. B. 4 do you think Peyton could be majority owner with Elway as a minority owner? I’m 75% percent sure that won’t happen but it would be cool. Thanks for the pod you guys do a great job. Keep it up. Go Broncos!!!!!!

Hey guys! You were saying yesterday that you weren’t sure why Doug Pederson wasn’t being considered. Do you think it could be because of his tanking debacle last year, taking out Jalen Hurts at the end of a competitive game in week 17? I feel like that’s the first thing I thought of when his name was first floated as a potential replacement for Vic way back in the early part of the season, and I remember it being a huge deal at the time. I feel like it’s possible that Paton isn’t too crazy about the leadership of a guy who actively hurt his team’s chance of winning, even if it was an irrelevant game.
