Hey crew! My wife and I are coming to Denver from Portland, Oregon for the Jets game and are excited to hang out with you all at the tailgate and at the bar!
In the meantime, I think we’ve seen enough of the season to evaluate one disappointing aspect of our team that seems to be going under the radar: George Paton’s free agent moves. Powers, Allen, and Perine have been underwhelming. Gregory still hasn’t shown up, and Frank Clark is totally MIA. McGlinchey has been an absolute liability, especially with penalties. It still looks like Paton is a good drafter, but I’m starting to doubt his ability to assemble a full roster.

Unconvincing as that W was, I feel like we’re ACTUALLY close. Sutton and and Jeudy aren’t dominant players, but we’ve got a solid possession receiver and separator with the duo. We’ve got two explosive home run-threats in Mims and McLaughlin, something we haven’t had in ages, and two reliable bruisers in Williams and Perine. Most importantly, we FINALLY have a quarterback, the 9x pro bowler and Super Bowl champion we thought we were getting.
As horrible as this defense is playing, we’ve seen a high level of play from mostly the same personnel.I feel like we’re wasting winnable games under VJ’s coaching. Can we not just get a guy like John Pagano or internal assistant off the Fangio tree to run the scheme like we have for the past 3 years? I don’t know how Sean Payton can still ride with VJ after what we’ve seen for multiple weeks in a row. He is to this D what Hackett was to the O last year.

Why don’t more teams use motion? You can get a receiver up to speed long before the defensive backs can. I thinking if Jeudy or Mims were used like this they would be open much quicker. What gives?

The hope now is that the momentum generated off of that second half is carried forward. That does happen!
And this issue with the defense is so weird. It feels just disorganized, like we’re one coaching adjustment or one week from being passable.
I count two primetime games now where the Chiefs O-line is committing infractions left and right without being penalized. I don’t know if there is enough stumping that SP can do before next Thursday to get the refs to blow that whistle.

Boys! I was actually starting to believe I would sit in traffic leaving Metlife stadium at midnight with a smile on my face after watching Zach Wilson outplay Mahomes…. then they pull a typical Jets move and rip the fans hearts out (Refs conspiracy theories acceptable as well). Either way, NO GAMES left on our schedule should we be considered favorites. The Jets defense looks legit, and our defense made Justin Fields look LIKE Mahomes.
Really wish we could have made it to Denver for a game this year… to anyone thinking about it, DNVR TAILGATE IS THE WAY TO GO!
LOVE all the new additions to the pods. Alexis, Jimmy Palm Trees, PS2, random RK sightings, AND SUPERBOWL CHAMP TODD DAVIS! The Broncos may be a border line laughing stock of the NFL, but DNVR is a championship caliber pod.
