The Denver Broncos lost a tough one against Josh McDaniels & the Las Vegas Raiders 17-16. Sean Payton came out of the gate with an onside kick, but it did not work out. Russell Wilson looked like his old self out there, but the defense left them hanging at times.
Is Will Lutz good enough to help them get wins? Should the Broncos be panicking?
Join Alexis Perry, Jake Shwantiz, and Super Bowl 50 Champion Todd Davis as they break down what went wrong in today’s loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Brandon Marshall also joins the show and Zac Stevens checks in from the stadium to talk about Sean Payton’s reaction to the game.

What a strange game. I feel like I have more questions than answers. Russ looked improved but only threw for 177 yards and just 52 in the second half. The defense only gave up 17 points but I don’t think they forced a single 3 and out, and it never felt like they had control at any point. With only 13 total drives in the entire game do we just chalk this game up as an anomaly or is there cause for concern?

I honestly am disappointed with the loss. But I’m not disappointed with what I seen from the offense. Russ looked better for sure. 16 points is 16 points and that will change under Sean it just has to. But the onside kick changed the entire game. Field position is everything we know that so if that’s us on their 20 instead of them on ours it’s a whole different ball game. And let’s not forget Lutz left 4 points on the board. 4! Idc bout the 70 yarder in practice. Put in through the upright.

Also I loved the onside kick no hate from over here we just wished it worked

Hey guys
So after cooling down from yesterdays lost, it still stings pretty bad. I’m from Fresno CA and I’m surrounded by obnoxious Raiders fans & niners fans and it ain’t easy but, I still have a positive outlook for the future. Russ was definitely impressive. He as quick, accurate and made the right refs and decisions. The Oline was also decent as well. I hope Coach Payton can increases the tempo next game and let Russ a little more especially since the Oline was holding up. I felt this game, he want Russ to throw the quick check down passes.
I really hope the defense can really step up and reduce penalties. That really killed us. And pass rush must be better. Randy Gregory was pretty much MIA the whole game. Also I still believe believe in Damarri Mathis!
I definitely think we’re going to beat Washington next week and hopefully we can figure it out. All shout out to captain Todd Davis for bringing Bmarsh on the show!! That was pretty epic. Sorry for the long post. Thank you guys and Go Broncos!

What flavor ice cream would you use to describe our defensive game plan yesterday? What say we get Drew Sanders on the field?

Touchè! Delicious but inconsistent.

As maddening as this game was, I’m encouraged that Russ looked decisive and connfortable. That said, if we’re going to play this clock chewing, ball control style of football, our margin for error is nonexistent so missed XPs, multiple 15+ yd penalties, failed onside kicks, etc. aren’t going to cut it. We also need to make a big play at some point. Russ still looks reluctant to scramble, Courtland is not the dominant force on the perimeter we’ve wanted him to be, Jeudy is hurt (and is inconsistent with his hands when healthy), Javonte and Samaje aren’t really home run threats… we have no explosive playmakers and that is a little troubling.

My boys, I had to wait a little bit before I was able to comment logically on this post, with that being said watching this game I definitely felt Russ was doing better he had 2 td’s when there was plenty last year where he didn’t have any. It seemed like other then the pic that our defense didn’t want to get the raiders offense off the field. We need to get pressure on the other team. There was no reason we shouldn’t have not had any sacks as much as we have invested in our pass rushers. Also we need to get out of kicker purgatory. People our talking about bmac but he averaged about a missed field goal or extra point a game last year. I know a lot of people loved him as a person but he had became to conferrable and it showed by how many times missed and how he acted when he didn’t get his way with the coaches. (Unless Todd knows something we don’t) it seemed like he didn’t have to worry about what happened because they were not going to cut him. I know I would hate to see TODD THE GREAT leave but I hate seeing my broncos loose as well BUT With that being said we might need you to put the pads on again and crack some more skulls.jkjk You guys are doing an amazing job and I am loving the surprise guests such as PS2 and b marshal (happy birthday btw). Sorry for the long rant but I do still have hope and I’m just more upset because of who we lost to. Keep up the great work everyone and most importantly GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!

To me, that loss is absolutely on this roster not making plays. The game plan was fine, eat clock in offense and don’t let the best guys beat you on defense. We saw Russ scramble and be decisive.
Defense can’t get off the field over and over, offense can’t make any plays downfield.
George Payton’s seat is warm and getting hot.

Uncle Mase warned of kicker purgatory for years and here we are.

I only saw clips of the presser but in what I did see Payton offered no apologies or contrition for the kicker decision that did in fact cost us the game. He’s a solid coach but he owes us some humility after the kicker turnover this offseason, that’s on his shoulders.
The defense is what worries me more, it’s great they held them to 17 points but one single sack would have ended that game and they couldn’t get it. We collectively made the mistake of talking ourselves onto the VJ train when we all know he has a history of turning out defenses in the mid-20s overall. We know he was the bottom of Payton’s hiring list but I’m wondering if ownership is going to have the stones to move on when a better candidate merges. Here’s to hoping, because I don’t like flying cross country to watch games like that anymore:

Another year another loss to the Raiders. If you would have told me we would lose week 1, I would have believed it because I firmly believe we are a 5 win team max.
SP offense was uninspiring and lacked any WOW factor outside a very stupid onside kick to start the game.
But Hey, at least we got that problem McManus out of town, sure was fun watching him go 5/5 this weekend.

In past seasons I’ve felt like we’ve had good teams that have underpeformed. This is the first year where it feels like we just might not have the players. At what point do we need to be honest with ourselves and say we don’t have the guys. For example, Courtland is no longer a young promising WR. He is who he is. And who he is, is a guy who get’s 4 catches for 32 yards and can make a nice deep ball play every once in a while. Russ can’t push the ball downfield if nobody is open. On the defense we can’t produce pressure and get off the field. Not to be doomsday after week one but I agree with Todd, at some point players have to make plays. But what if you don’t have players that can make plays?

Yikes. This team as an embarrassment to the State of Colorado. The Rockies are bad but at least they dont try to masquerade as a marquee franchise.
We in the pits. Season is over in my eyes. I want a true rebuild.
