Following the Green & Gold Game, Jay Norvell was honest about Colorado State’s struggles with field goal kicking this spring.

“I think our field goal kicking has been inconsistent,” the second-year Rams coach told the press. “We’re going to continue working on that. And we’re going to evaluate bringing in some guys there.”

On Thursday evening, the Rams got their guy. Jordan Noyes, a Utah transfer, announced that he will continue his career in Fort Collins. He comes to CSU with three years of playing experience.

Noyes walked on with the Utes in 2020 and immediately earned the role as kickoff specialist for the five games Utah played in the Covid-reduced season. That year he averaged 63.4 yards per kick and recorded 11 touchbacks.

Noyes then continued to handle the kickoffs in 2021, averaging 61.5 yards per kick with 29 touchbacks on 69 total attempts. He also went a perfect 21-of-21 on PATs and made the first two field goals of his career — a 29-yarder, and a 33-yarder in a 42-34 Beaver win.

In 2022, Noyes went 34 for 34 on PATs and made 6-of-8 field goal attempts. However, after missing kicks against UCLA and USC in conference play, the England native lost his starting job.

At 30 years old this past season, Noyes was the second-oldest player in college football, and the oldest kicker. The converted soccer player and father of three will likely be CSU’s starting field goal kicker for the 2023 campaign.
