Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders targets the trenches for Colorado and the first round of post-spring game visitors

Coach Prime has purged Colorado’s roster and now it’s time for some commitments.

From what DNVR learned over the spring game weekend, we will see multiple commits from last weekend’s transfer portal visitors.

Until then, five transfer portal players are publically confirmed to be visiting Colorado this weekend.

Former Georgia DL Shone Washington

Washington was a 2022 three-star recruit ranked 592nd overall and 84th at his position according to 247sports. He is from New Orleans, LA and attended Warren Easton High School before committing to Georgia. The Bayou native was listed at 6-foot-4, 270 pounds on Georgia’s roster last season.

Washington saw very limited playing time in his first season in Athens. He only saw playing time against Samford, Georgia’s second game of the 2022 season and charted one tackle while playing in a reserve role.

Washington grades out as a three-star transfer portal recruit with a .8700 rating according to 247sports.

Former Washington EDGE Sav’ell Smalls

Smalls was a 2020 five-star recruit ranked 30th overall and 3rd at his position according to 247sports. He was rated the top overall recruit in the state of Washington in the 2020 recruiting class. He is from Burien, WA and attended Kennedy Catholic High School. In high school, Smalls played tight end and receiver along with EDGE.

In 2020 as a true freshman, Smalls played in four games while starting once. In 2021, he played in all 12 games and also played in all 13 games in 2022. His combined stats in three years as a Husky, Smalls had 32 total tackles and one TFL.

Smalls grades out as a three-star transfer portal recruit with a .8900 rating according to 247sports.

Former Houston OL Cam’Rom Johnson

Johnson was a 2019 three-star recruit ranked 1284th overall and 104th at his position according to 247sports. He is from Pearland, TX and attended Shadow Creek High School. He was heavily recruited by Colorado and at one point, gave a verbal commitment before signing with Houston. Houston listed him at 6-foot-4, 305 pounds for the 2022 season.

2019 was a redshirt season for Johnson and only appeared in one game in 2020 before appearing in 13 games as the backup left guard for the Cougars in 2021. Last season, Johnson started in all 13 games at left guard and allowed only one sack in 556 opportunities. He earned First-Team All-American Athletic Conference honors for his performance in 2022.

Johnson grades out as a three-star transfer portal recruit with a .8900 rating according to 247sports.

Former Houston OL Trevonte Sylvester

Sylvester was a 2020 three-star recruit ranked 2063rd overall and 108th as a defensive end according to 247sports. He is from Breaux Bridge, LA and attended Breaux Bridge High School. In high school, Sylvester was a two-way player along the defensive and offensive lines. At some point after committing to Houston, Sylvester became a primarily offensive player.

The Louisana native was classified as a redshirt freshman last year and appeared in 12 games as the backup left tackle.

Sylvester has not received any transfer portal recruit rankings from 247sports.

Former Marshall WR EJ Horton

Horton was a 2020 three-star recruit ranked 2765th overall and 369th at his position. He is from Charleston, SC and attended Palmetto Academcy Inc before committing to Marshall. Last season, Marshall listed Horton at 6-foot, 180 pounds.

Horton redshirted in 2020 and was only credited for playing in two games in 2021. He registered stats in six games last year for 12 receptions for 186 yards and one touchdown while also adding two rushing attempts for 15 yards.

According to his Twitter bio, Horton runs a 4.3 40-yard dash. Horton grades out as a three-star transfer portal recruit with a .8003 rating according to 247sports.
