One day after Colorado State finished its spring football period with the annual Green & Gold Game, the Rams picked up the first verbal commitment of the 2024 cycle.
Jack Moran, a 6-foot-6, 245-pound prospect out of Ralston Valley High School announced on Sunday that he intends to play his collegiate career in Fort Collins. The Jeffco standout previously posted about receiving an offer from CSU on April 1.
Son of Sean Moran, a CSU football legend and 2004 CSU Athletics Hall of Fame inductee, Jack’s Ram roots go deep. While starring for CSU from 1992 through 1995, Sean was a two-time first-team All-WAC defensive lineman. He is most notably known for his 77-yard scoop and score in the 1994 upset of No. 6 Arizona.
A two-way player for a Mustangs squad that went 10-3 in 2022, Jack Moran plays both offensive tackle and defensive end at Ralston Valley. He is currently expected to play defensive tackle for the Rams though.
According to the stats listed on Maxpreps, Moran recorded 42 total tackles, five sacks and three QB hurries last season. Moran also forced one fumble in his junior campaign.
While it’s too early to put any type of lofty expectations on the young man — he hasn’t even gotten to campus yet — it’s really encouraging to see the staff going after players with deep CSU ties.
The coaches also offered 2024 wide receiver Ty Olsen, the son of former CSU wide-out Eric Olsen, so there’s a possibility that multiple legacies could be joining the team in the future.
