The Denver Broncos just wrapped up OTAs last week, and following this current down period will quickly come training camp.

New head coach Gary Kubiak made his presence and leadership known from the start of OTAs, doing things differently than they’d been done before. Kubiak made sure the young guys got the much-needed reps in practice while simultaneously saving the seasoned vets’ energy and sending them into the locker room early, or resting them all together, some days.

Kubiak’s also showing wisdom by implementing his offense while allowing Peyton Manning to “get into his comfort zone”, which is likely code for “running the no-huddle to near perfection.”

And as training camp quickly approaches — with it set to kickoff on Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. MT — there will be multiple competitive position battles to keep an eye on. Kubiak mentioned the offensive line specifically, as a group which will be in competition with one another for starting spots. Others are on the defensive line, at running back, sorting receiver depth and punt returner.

Last year, with the remodeling and revamping of Dove Valley, training camp was closed to fans. But, it reopens this year and the team is excited to have everyone back.

“It’s really exciting,” said Chip Conway, Vice President of Operations via denverbroncos.com. “Missing the fans last year at camp – the players feed off of their energy just like on game day. So the players really missed it, they’re excited to get them back. The organization’s excited – Mr. Bowlen put a lot of money in the facility renovation and we’re excited to see everyone over there on that slope and having a good time.”

Fans will notice there’s no scrimmage at Sports Authority Field at Mile High Stadium this year. It’s sad for those who go to the scrimmage as their only opportunity to visit the stadium due to it being free of charge. But, luckily training camp is also free, and fans will likely be blown away by the new facilities.
