In some ways, 2015-16 will be an all-important year for Colorado State basketball. Daniel Bejarano, J.J. Avila and Stanton Kidd are gone, never to walk onto the court at Moby Arena again. Those are big shoes to fill, literally and figuratively, for Larry Eustachy and Co.

Bejarano was landed by former Rams head coach Tim Miles as a transfer from Arizona but played all three of his seasons under Eustachy, evolving over time. Still, Eustachy and his fellow coaches have something to prove this season with an influx of new talent.

Of course, as a college basketball coach, that’s the reality of the position. At most, guys can give four years to a team. And if they’re a JuCo or DI transfer, it’s even less.

Emmanuel Omogbo, a 6’8” forward who was named MVP of the NJCAA All-Star Game in May, is one of those transfers. He has two years of eligibility remaining, which can be a positive and a negative. The young man has clearly developed into quite a player during those two seasons, though it leaves him with only two left.

Now John Gillon, Tiel Daniels, Omogbo and the others know when they’ll play conference opponents, as the full Mountain West schedule was released by the conference Wednesday morning.

Here’s how Colorado State’s conference schedule breaks down (Home games in Bold):

At Boise State, Saturday, Jan. 2

UNLV, Wednesday, Jan. 6

At San Jose State, Saturday, Jan. 9

San Diego State, Wednesday, Jan. 13

Utah State, Saturday, Jan. 16

At Air Force, Wednesday, Jan. 20

San Jose State, Wednesday, Jan. 27

At Wyoming, Saturday, Jan. 30

At San Diego State, Wednesday, Feb. 3

Nevada, Saturday, Feb. 6

Boise State, Wednesday, Feb. 10

At UNLV, Saturday, Feb. 13

At Utah State, Wednesday, Feb. 17

Wyoming, Saturday, Feb. 20

New Mexico, Wednesday, Feb. 24

At Nevada, Sunday, Feb. 28

At Fresno State, Wednesday, March 2

Air Force, Saturday, March 5

Back-to-back games at Wyoming for the first Border War and then at San Diego State will be a difficult little stretch. One may not be as important at the late February tilts against the Cowboys and then the New Mexico Lobos, both inside Moby.

Also of note: The Rams won’t travel to Albuquerque to face the Lobos and won’t head to Fresno, California to play Fresno State, either, due to an unbalanced schedule.

An interesting twist was included, too, with CBS Sports and ESPN looking to shift some of the conference’s Wednesday games to Tuesday and Saturday games to Sunday. No word yet weather or not the Rams will be included in any of those national games. And there’s ROOT SPORTS, too, who will pick their games following the national networks.

Colorado State Men’s Basketball’s 2015-16 season tips off in mid-November and the full schedule is not yet available.
