According to ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, Denver Nuggets former lead assistant and recent interim head coach Melvin Hunt is officially on his way to Dallas.
Mavs coach Rick Carlisle confirms earlier ESPN report that former Nuggets coach Melvin Hunt is joining Dallas staff as lead assistant

This marks the end of a fantastic five-year run for Hunt as assistant coach of the Nuggets. He was originally brought to Denver by George Karl in 2010 after spending five years with the Cleveland Cavaliers. When Karl was terminated in 2013 Hunt was then hired by Brian Shaw to be lead assistant of the Nuggets.
I think I speak for Nuggets fans across the globe in saying Hunt was an outstanding hire from Day 1. Throughout his time in Denver he’s presented himself as an even more outstanding person. I for one was certainly pulling for Hunt to fill the Nuggets’ head coaching vacancy this summer, as the majority of Nuggets fans were, however Nuggets’ management clearly had other candidates in mind.
So on behalf of BSN and Nuggets Nation, I’d just like to say thanks to Melvin Hunt for making the Denver Nuggets a better organization with his presence. Lord knows the Nuggets need all the help they can get!
