Zach Bogosian is a power house checker that imposes fear a among forwards in the D zone. I have always said he is exactly what the AVS need. I agree he is a right handed shot which the AVS don’t need but he brings much more than that. Remember watching Dustin Byfuglien completely wreck the AVS on so many occasions while trying to gain the zone. They were so intimidated by him that they shied away when he was on the ice. That is a fact! Zach Bogosian can be that guy for the AVS. Watch him hit someone it’s almost not fair just like DB. I watched him late last year after the trade and the guy is fast and has good defensive skills as well. AVS need to finally trade ROR, sorry. I know he can be good but I watched him dog it for 3/4 of this last season. I don’t know if he was hurt but he was not very impressive. Could have been bad Yoga or something,…. Towards the end of the season, yes, he was defiantly one of the AVS best players. Just don’t want to see him walk for nothing, and there are other players on the team that can stand up when given a chance.

We’re talking about $$ and you guys left out the Rangers? Even Sather thinks that’s a mistake. Hayes, Staal and JT Miller for O’Reilly and Elliott and probably some picks on both sides.

How about Ottawa? Wiercioch looked good at world’s playing with Barrie and maybe get Chiasson too filling our right wing. Ages are perfect. More importantly. If we get a top 4 left D, then presumably everyone moves down the pecking order. Making Stuart expendable. Addition through subtraction
We make any deal for O’Reilly contingent on taking Stuart. That opens up salary to sign UFA’s.

I thought about Ottawa. I don’t think they are a team necessarily desperate for a center, so they may not throw back a package tantalizing enough to make an O’Reilly trade worthwhile. Ottawa is also extremely thin in attractive prospects.

Wierchioch is very solid, but I wouldn’t consider him a home-run. Avs would need a lot more from Ottawa. Also, forcing a team to take on Stuart just deteriorates ROR’s value in a trade.

IF Ottawa wanted ROR, I’d look for something like this in return for the Avalanche:
Wierchioch, 18th overall, 2016 1st-round pick, 2nd/3rd round pick. Based on the fact that it took a top prospect, first round pick, NHL d-man John Moore, and a 2nd round pick for the Rangers to land Keith Yandle, I think the Avs should look for this type of package to consider moving ROR. If they can’t get it, pay him and move on.

Given that the Sens have Turris, Lazar, and Zibanejad at the center-ice position already, and all three are 25 or younger and former 1st round picks, I just doubt Ottawa would be willing to part with the assets. Especially considering their prospect pool may be drier than the Colorado’s pool is. I wouldn’t say impossible, because anything could happen, but I wouldn’t consider the Sens a team likely to be in the O’Reilly sweepstakes. Plus, the Avs would likely have to settle for draft picks, which isn’t helping their immediate future and current needs. Long-term it could pay off, but it’s certainly risky.

I’m just worried we’ve waited to long. People know we’re in a bind. Drives the cost down. Bozak and a second starting to scare me.
