After suffering a groin injury in Spring Training, the Rockies ace is set to return to the club.
De La Rosa tossed 5 innings in his second rehab start at Triple A Albuquerque on tuesday night, striking out five for the Isotopes.
Weiss probably could’ve slotted De La Rosa’s return sooner, but with each member of his projected rotation this weekend at Los Angeles already having a win each on the season there is no rush.
De La Rosa will start on monday when the Rockies return home to face the Padres. De La Rosa has an impressive 45-14 record with a 3.98 ERA at Coors Field in his career.
Christian Bergman will be the odd man out of the rotation but has pitched well enough and may stick around in the bullpen.
