Could Mark Sanchez replace Manning in Denver?

Sounds like a crazy thought, but Broncos long time beat writer for the Denver Post Mike Klis thinks it could be a possibility.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Broncos also pursue Mark Sanchez, the most accomplished quarterback in the pool of free agents.

With or without Manning, the Broncos’ offseason plan can be broken down into three primary aspects: evaluating their own free-agent players, evaluating other players available as free agents and evaluating the draft.

Sanchez’s name could be interesting, as he did play well for Chip Kelly in place of  injured Eagles quarterback Nick Foles. Sanchez also led the Jets to consecutive AFC Championship game appearances in 2009 and 2010. Sanchez lacks size but would have the mobility Kubiak would like his quarterback to possess.

Elway still believes in Brock.

“If that would be the case, I do have confidence that Brock can step in,” Elway said. “You never know. This is a big game. It’s a tough game. And the one thing that Brock has been lacking in the last three years is the fact that he hasn’t gotten a lot of playing time. So I’m confident he can do it, but you know what? The bottom line is he’s going to answer that question when the light comes on.”

Osweiler would still be Elway’s top choice to replace Peyton, but if the Broncos could get Sanchez for depth and on a team friendly contract, it may not be a bad idea to see what the Sanchize could look like in orange and blue.
