June is here, the sun is shining (occasionally), and Colorado State’s 2024 recruiting class is coming together.
With recruits taking official visits this month, the verbal commitments are naturally starting to add up, especially from the out-of-state players getting their first opportunity to see everything Fort Collins has to offer.
With that in mind, Ram fans can keep up with everything they need to know about the 2024 class here.
2024 Commits
DT | Jack Moran | Colorado
Jack Moran warmed the hearts of Ram Nation when he announced that he would follow in the footsteps up his father. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound recruit is not just feel good story though. He’s a really intriguing prospect with a phenomenal frame and significant athleticism for a player of his size. Moran joined the DNVR Rams Podcast in May to talk about his CSU roots, why he’s excited about this opportunity and much more!
WR | Kory Hall | California
Kory Hall plays safety and wide receiver at the high school level, however, he is being recruited to make big plays as a wide-out at CSU. An explosive athlete with burner speed, it’s easy to see what the staff likes about his potential in the ‘Air Raid’ offense. He’s coming off a junior campaign in which he recorded 1,041 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns on just 32 receptions (32.5 Avg.).
QB | Darrius Curry | California
Darrius Curry has been in the spotlight since he was in middle school and has been recruited by some of the biggest teams in the country. After visiting campus during the first weekend of June though, Curry announced he intends to advance his career at CSU. The three-star prospect threw for 3,007 yards and completed 68 percent of his passes as a junior. He also threw 38 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
OL | Berlin Lillard | California
At 6-foot-5, 325 pounds, Berlin Lillard is an intimidating presence on the field. What’s especially intriguing about him though is that he moves well for being such a mountain of a man. It will be interesting to see whether Lillard ultimately plays offensive tackle or guard at the FBS level.
OL | John Holthaus | California
John Holthaus currently plays lacrosse and football. As he fills out his 6-foot-7 frame and really refines his football skills though, he’ll have a chance to be a nice tackle in the Mountain West. The trenches are all about mentality and when you see the way Holthaus finishes plays, it’s easy to understand what the staff likes about his potential. Along with CSU, he currently holds an offer from Portland State.
OL | Zach Smith | Colorado
Zach Smith, a 6-foot-7, 265-pound senior plays basketball and football at ThunderRidge High School (Highlands Ranch). Currently a tight end, Smith is being recruited to play offensive line for the Rams. He’s coming off of a junior season in which he recorded 11 receptions for 108 yards and one touchdown.
DT | Trajon Townsend | California
Trajon Townsend is the second defensive tackle prospect to commit to CSU this cycle. He joins local recruit Jack Moran of Ralston Valley High School. Listed at 6-foot-6, 280 pounds, Townsend has the ideal size to anchor a defensive line. According to his Twitter page, he also holds an offer from San Diego State.
EDGE | Ed’Mari Binion | California
Ed’Mari Binion is raw as a football prospect. He played in just one game last season according to MaxPreps. Even so, he’s managed to receive enough recruiting interest to pick up offers from Montana State, UNLV and Washington. Likely because although he’s raw as a prospect, the two-sport athlete fits a really intriguing athletic profile. At 6-foot-6, 250 pounds, Binion has the type of size that you cannot teach. His basketball background fits the type of athlete that the staff covets, too.
OL | Phillip Ocon | California
A 6-foot-3, 315-pound offensive lineman out of St. Francis High School, Ocon is being recruited to play center at CSU. The three-star prospect committed to the Rams over multiple Mountain West offers, including Air Force, San Jose State and UNLV. In addition to football, he has a martial arts background in ju-jitsu, which continues CSU’s trend of pursuing multi-sport athletes. His versatile athletic profile should be an advantage for him in the trenches.
DB | Chauncey Davis | California
A 6-foot-0, 165-pound cornerback with offers from every service academy, Davis committed to CSU almost immediately after concluding his official visit. Watching him on film, although he is likely going to have to put on some size in the coming years, what really jumps out is his closing speed. Davis’ Hudl page claims he runs the 40 in 4.5 seconds and it certainly looks like it when you watch him. He may end up being one of the steals of this class after being noticed by cornerbacks coach Marcus Patton in a summer camp.
DE | Braxton Strong | Indiana
A 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive end with offers from Air Force, Army, UCONN and just about every program in the Ivy League, Strong has both the brawn and brains to stand out. On the football field, though, it’s especially impressive to see how well he moves at his size. He has 64 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss and five sacks in his career.
WR | Donte Ferrell | Ohio
Ferrell has multiple ACC offers and could have taken his talents to a power five conference. Instead he elected to go with CSU, where he’ll have an opportunity to be a playmaker in the Air Raid offense. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound wide-out is coming off of a junior campaign in which he racked up 92 receptions for 1,714 yards and 12 touchdowns. Hopefully he’ll bring that same type of production to Fort Collins.
EDGE | Keegan Shank | Arizona
CSU was Shank’s first Division 1 offer and the 6-foot-4, 255-pound defensive end rewarded the staff for their commitment to him by verbally committing to the Green & Gold. Watching him on film, it’s easy to see what the staff likes about him. Not only is he a natural pass rusher but he’s an impactful run stopper, too. The three-star prospect picked the Rams over offers from Air Force, Nevada and Utah State, among others.
RB | Jalen Dupree | Arkansas
Jalen Dupree has put up insane numbers in recent years. The 6-foot, 210-pound running back out of Malvern High School has rushed for 4,435 yards and 57 touchdowns over the last two seasons, and he’s coming off of a junior campaign in which he averaged 202 yards per game. The type of guys that turns routine plays into highlights, Dupree is an explosive ball carrier with great vision, burst and breakaway speed. He chose the Rams over offers from Boston College, Kansas State and Purdue, among others.
WR | Jordan Ross | California
Jordan Ross is a four-star composite recruit on 247Sports and would be the highest rated prospect to sign with the Rams since Justin Holland in 2001. The 6-foot, 175-pound wide receiver has offers from power five programs across the country. Instead of playing for one of the perceived powerhouse schools, though, Ross wants to play under Jay Norvell in Fort Collins, where he has an opportunity to be a superstar in the Air Raid offense. A three-level threat with NFL traits, getting Ross on board is a massive win for the staff.
