For the second consecutive year, the Rocky Mountain Showdown will be played on the Friday of Labor Day weekend. The Pac-12 announced the scheduling change of the rivalry game featuring Colorado State and the University of Colorado.

The teams will meet for the 89th team, with the Buffaloes leading the all-time series 64-22-2. The 2017 RMS will be played in Denver for the 17th time, with CU holding a 10-6 advantage in those games.

Attendance for the annual game has increased in each of the past five seasons. The 2016 attendance of 69,850 was the highest total in the series since 2003, when 76,219 fans packed Mile High Stadium.

This year’s meeting should be a hot ticket once again, especially taking into account the success of the teams in 2016. The Buffaloes enjoyed their first 10-win season since 2001 while the Rams went bowling for the fourth consecutive season. For the first time since 2002, both schools will be coming off winning seasons.
