Apology accepted. Thanks for doing this.

The manic-depressive, wild-mood swings are strong with this one.

Avs did well. Seems like the 4th round pick for “over-aged” goalie (as the BSN podcast described him) is the biggest concern. Not sure why that pick was made.

I am concerned that Sakic keeps kicking the can on Duchene. I can see why the 2017 deadline wasn’t the time, but that’s only if you deal him during the draft when 30 other teams are essentially buyers. Now it’s wait until the next deadline… again, and we’ll hear all of the same reasons in 2018 as to why he didn’t get dealt that we heard in 2017. I am skeptical that teams ‘win now’ mode at the deadline which are he main buyers at the deadline will actually be looking to unload a top 4 D-man. Duchene’s stock is not as high as Johanson’s was last year when he was straight up traded for Jones.

I’m looking forward to the next podcast to get AJ’s take.

Unfortunately this doesnt bode well for his contract either. He wont sign again with the Avs and his value will be dropping monthly until he is UFA in 2 years. This is truly unfortunate.

At least we will get the good pre-UFA payout years from him then lose him like Stastny.

I wonder if Sakic believes he will be able to sign Duchene before he becomes a UFA.

Sakic believed Statsny would sign too…. I cant see a player dangled to trade for years even wanting to stay. Duchene’s tone has changed too from, “No I want to be an Av” to “I want to go somewhere to win” in just a season.

Trade him now while he has value, it is going to slip otherwise. I feel like Duchene peaked at 30 goals personally, and he is already one season removed. Sure 25 goals is achievable for him, but that is just going to prove my point that his value is only getting lower not higher.

Unfortunately Sakic is asking too much. Maybe that will be good for Dutch though, seeing that it is a psychological game for him. “Hey, no other team values you as much as the Avs do.” -Sakic to Duchene

If he can light it up maybe we can trade him next year, better yet, maybe we can become a respectable team again and he will want to stay.

Either way it is complicated with him because we have 9000 centers in the system.

Time will tell.

I agree about Duchene signing an extension. I was wondering if Sakic thought he would not because he actually can, but if Sakic is counting on it the same way he counted on signing Stats.

Appreciate the apology, you are redeemed until further outburst. Makar is legit, super excited to see him tear it up in NCAA.
