After opening Free Agency by signing Anaheim Defenseman Francois Beauchemin to a 3 year contract, the Avalanche have signed left wing Blake Comeau to a 3 year, $7.2 million contract. Comeau, a bottom six forward with the Pittsburgh Penguins carries a $2.4 million cap hit on his new deal.
Comeau is 29 years old and stands at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds. After trading Ryan O’Reilly and Jamie McGinn to the Buffalo Sabres in a blockbuster deal, Comeau should help the Avalanche restore their forward depth, especially in a bottom six which struggled to make an impact last season.
After a few down years, Comeau had a 16 goal, 31 point resurgence last season in Pittsburgh.

I realize for all you non-Hockeynationadians it’s “America Day” there and all, but it would be really awesome to get a ‘Round Table’ on the Avs Free Agency moves at some point in the future. More informed opinions on the matters like this are always highly appreciated.
We have something for you coming up. We did take a little holiday break, though :p
